What’s been the most amazing non-US country you have fished in?
Mexico years ago dove hunting and taking a morning off for bass fishing. But that was before the drug cartel took over. As I remember the bass were not very large, but it was almost impossible to cast without a hit. Good luck.
Depends on the species you are going after and since I have no desire for off shore fishing, I would have to pick Canada for my most rewarding fresh water experience.
LMB,SMB and Pike fishing are outstanding.

Panama for me. Good fresh and salt water fishing
Vietnam. Special Services had about six rods available. I have no recollection what we used for bait but we did catch fish from the South China Sea.
Trout fishing in the Austrian Alps with my brother and nephew! The small lake we fished looked like one of those puzzles where the alps were reflected onto the fishing lake! Unforgettable. Because of that trip I was hooked on fishing and decided to make it a life hobby! Thanks you guys and gals for making it fun reading all of your stories and learnings.
Fly-in to a lake in upper Ontario, Canada. You have Muskie, Northern pike, @ LMB for fighters, Walleye and Lake trout for great eating and still have a couple other species SMB, Drum, Grayling, and perch. People r nice and still close to home just saying. Have a great time and send some pics. Mike

I’ll have basically the entire summer off, so I’m currently looking for a destination where I can explore, fly fish, and experience a culture other than my own. I’m not sure what the state of the world will be in June, so many countries may still be off limits, but throw them out there regardless! Would love to hear your experiences.

After diving Buck Island off US Virgin Island St Crox went fishing. It was amazing the hook Grouper and Tigger fish you could watch open their mouth and swallow your bait. It is US with a different flavor.

Vietnam but I don't know where you can get the hand grenades
Fished Stockholm, Sweden. In town no need a fishing license. Atlantic Salmon.
New Zealand, trout fantastic . Would like to go to iceland. Big brown native trout. Caught and release only.
Japan, when I was in the hospital in Yokosuka. Special Services took us ambulatory up into the mountains to a stocked private trout stream.
Angola: big, big edible Barracuda, Tarpon, Tuna, Red Snapper, grouper, Bonito and Jack Cravalle and the mighty tiger fish up the Congo river along with plenty Cubera Snappers. North at Soyo. Dominique charters great accom and fishing.
St Lucia: all sports fish, Barra, Sailfish, Marlin and great location!
Guyana: river fish strange types and lots of them! Piranha too! Plenty giant Otters and Caimen.
Best.....Guyana and Angola, Guyana is easier to get too and speaks English so go for that!
A good friend went to New Zeland and fly fished for Steelhead. His pictures were awesome.
Canada...hands down, the closest neighbor who wont turn on you if a war would break out. No seriously, they have lakes and streams where you're arms will want to fall off from hauling in loads of walleye and pike bigger than what you're used to in the states, for sure. Some nice bass fishing, but the other fish rule up yonder...in the great white north.
