I'll take the woods over the city any day
SF, LA, Chicago are all the same. I got stuck on a main E/W street in Chicago and it took me 45 minutes to go 3 blocks (about 200yds). I was just lucky I had a half tank of gas as there are no gas stations downtown. I only go there if I have to and if it is for work I take the train and get in a cab. It is pushing $50/day to park a car. I will pass, thanks. Give me a hiking trail or a fire lane through the woods any day.
I once quit a job because they wanted me closer to work. The keep transferring me farther from home. I got a call at wok n was told i was being transferred to suburbs outside of Washington DC. I turned to my coworker handed him the keys to the shop n walked. On the ride home i thought what did i just do. I had a wife n kid to support. Got a call at home. They wanted to know why i quit. I said i told you i would never move my family to the city. I didn't like the craziness n the rude people i had to deal with. After 42 yrs i came back to my home town. Found a nice house in a cul d sac with 12 homes. Nice neighbors. Great location. I can see the mtns from my deck. I leave my driveway n in mins I'm on back roads or mt roads. I'm 2miles from the hospital i was born in. Never thought I'd come home. One of the best decisions we every made. She only knew city life now she luvs small town USA ππ

We move here on January 6 2006. About 7:30 pm i took her down main st. She looked at me an asked where is everyone. I said this is it. The surrounding area has grown tremendously but the town stayed small. I tend to stay away from crowds when possible even before covid. I enjoy my peace n quite. My wife told me I've become anti social. I said no I've become selective social. This site proves it. I never do facebook or any social media. I found fishing forum. Logged on almost dropped out. The more i read the more i found people i could relate to. We all enjoy fishing n the outdoors. Glad i hung in long enough to figure out what it was all about.
Population of Payson is 17,000. The entire county is 57,000. After forty years in the Salt Lake valley, this is indeed life Wulffy.
