👍👍 This place I live the population is about half that. Neither place is a bad place to be.
I was able te retire early at 60 with a full state pension and move to the house my father built on a chain of lakes in central Minnesota with my wife and six boats. My dogs passed away and I have not been able to replace them yet.🛶
Have no idea how you folks deal with long commutes, crowded EVERYTHING, having to drive waaaay outside of town, just to fish or see the stars clearly. I moved out of K.C. in '84 because of the population, can't fathom living there now..... absolutely HATE IT when I "need" to visit brother and 2 sisters in Cali (one sis in the Bay Area, brother in Thousand Oaks and a sis in Newport Beach), spend more time on the freeway, or getting lost in "developments" that are clones of the past 5 you passed, getting to a destination, than much of anything else. I truly believe that the GDP of this country would double and the pollution & mental health of citizens would greatly improved if any city would make mass-transit systems more widespread and be modeled after the "B.A.R.T." system in San Francisco. I get to my little sister's house on the edge of the Oakland Hills and park my vehicle. Only a run to the grocery store will make me drive once I am there....BART is within walking distance.
I guess our country needs big cities, to concentrate resources, but I don't need begin to understand the tolerance you all have for such crowding, just my opinion, of course.
PS....I recall a phone call from my older brother, a very happy and upbeat call, because he had taken a new position that was...."only 40-50 minutes EACH WAY, instead of the 90-105 minutes it took before !".......sounds like the prisoner on the rack got the guard to back off the tension by a click or two, huh ?
