I carry hand warmers that were gifted to me you use them with butane just like a lighter and I keep them in my pocket. Once my line is in I keep a hand in my pocket and alternate. They stay warm for hours.

I think it is about blood flow into your limbs. I never had much of a problem until I started taking my Heart Meds.

My wife and I used that style for years, switching to the rechargeable ones is a game changer, especially when you have or get the reserve battery for charging phones and stuff when you don't have access to power.
Hand warmers, the new electronic warmers are the bomb. They are rechargeable with device style plugs, they have ports that will let them be used to charge your phones as backup batteries. They last several hours on the lowest setting which gets plenty hot. I turn them on when my hands get cold on the higher setting so they heat up quicker, then turn them down to the lowest setting. They warm up the whole [pocket to where it warms up the backs of your hands too. I use thinner gloves and just warm them up too which helps them work better.

Best investment you will ever make, Amazon carries dozens, most made by a few manufacturers and rebranded, go by reviews, and some of the cheaper ones are exactly the same as the more expensive ones. I keep a couple by my chair and warm my hands and feet with them so that it keeps the batteries cycled so they last longer...

Also, if you have a backup battery for charging phones they can be used on these to extend your usage through a longer day. I got a 20Ah one that will charge these about six times or so. I'll charge one while using the other so I don't run them out and have to wait for charging them up.
Thanks for the information, I was still thinking of the old lighter fluid hand warmers.

We keep Hothands2 on the boat. Put 1 in each pocket. They stay warm up to 10 hours.

The rubber latex gloves do work very well (the blue "Milk House" gloves are a bit thicker than your general latex glove). Many people here in Minnesota wear them ice fishing. It gives you about 95% the dexterity of bare hands. It keeps the hands dry and prevents from "wind chill".

You can also use wool gloves that allow for the finger tips to be exposed.

If you do use the hand warmers (hot hands) - the suggestion to put them on the back of the hand is spot on (my hunting gloves actually have a pocket on the top of the hand just for this).
