I keep seeingmany of you fishing in 30 degree weather. I’m jealous. I can’t seem to keep my hands warm and once my hands are cold I’m done. So how do you keep them warm?

Well, if you are fishing with a bait caster, i am not sure you can. Because you need to have a bare thumb to cast. If you are using a spinning reel, it might be easier. Gloves would help a lot. Just Sayin...RJS

Get a pair of gloves that let your fingers protrude when necessary, mittens can be bought the same way. They have slotted areas where you can stick your fingers thru when needed !

I thought you northern guys would be use to cold weather. I am outside a lot so I get accoustomed to it. However when I am traveling on the water I do wear gloves but I can’t fish or work in gloves.

Hi Papa Jack. Before sharing my recommendation I will first say that every person is different regarding sensitivity to cold so what works for one person may not work at all for another. However, I bass fish most of the year so long as ice is not preventing me from putting a boat in the water and I have fished in snow as well. What works for me are Glacier glove brand neoprene gloves with a hand warmer inserted in the palm of each glove. They are only $12.99 a pair from Cabelas/BassPro so they are cheap to replace. I have no problem fishing with them on while using a baitcaster (Which I use mostly) or a spinning reel. Obviously, it won't help you if you need to retie but otherwise, it get's the job done for me! I would a pic, but can't quite figure out how to do that on this forum. If I do I will send it.

Hand warmers, the new electronic warmers are the bomb. They are rechargeable with device style plugs, they have ports that will let them be used to charge your phones as backup batteries. They last several hours on the lowest setting which gets plenty hot. I turn them on when my hands get cold on the higher setting so they heat up quicker, then turn them down to the lowest setting. They warm up the whole [pocket to where it warms up the backs of your hands too. I use thinner gloves and just warm them up too which helps them work better.

Best investment you will ever make, Amazon carries dozens, most made by a few manufacturers and rebranded, go by reviews, and some of the cheaper ones are exactly the same as the more expensive ones. I keep a couple by my chair and warm my hands and feet with them so that it keeps the batteries cycled so they last longer...

Also, if you have a backup battery for charging phones they can be used on these to extend your usage through a longer day. I got a 20Ah one that will charge these about six times or so. I'll charge one while using the other so I don't run them out and have to wait for charging them up.

I meant to add that the two pairs my wife and I got are on their third or fourth year and they are going strong, I numbered them so that if one starts under performing and not holding a charge we can identify it easier.

Get some Skiing Gloves or the cotton type dipped in Rubber. Add some Fresh or old Ground Black Pepper. It will absorb moisture and put off a little heat. It will also keep feet warmer in boots if you add Black Pepper to socks or boots before dressing out.

Find some Hunting Gloves they have trigger finger or can use scissors to modify the gloves for Baitcaster like RJS is suggesting.

I am able to stay warm with the exception of my hands. I walk 5-6 miles a day regardless of the weather. I have a great pair of gloves I wear when walking but they are too bulky for fishing.

When using hot hands, put them on the back of your hand rather than on the palm. This eliminates the bulk. Also a muff with hot hands really helps.

I forgot to mention: A hot hand in the top of your hat really helps keep your whole body warm.

A fishing guide turned me on to this. Use rubber latex gloves, just like the ones mechanics or covid people wear.
If yur hands do not get wet, then they will not get cols.

I doubt if this would work in very extrme temperature, but it works for me down to about 40 degrees

Hi, it's pretty simple for me. A couple of Hothands hand warmers in each pocket. Cold hands in the pockets, warm hands casting.
