I’m a big fan of high end rods. Particularly G Loomis and St Croix . I fish these exclusively now.
For years I have been day dreaming about a Loomis NRX . It’s the Flagship Loomis model. I could never justify cost. Kept telling myself what I already have is good enough.
I started rounding up some of my unused gear and sold a lot of it already
I decided to pull the trigger and put some of those proceeds toward this rod .
I got the NRX 893 JWR. I’ll pair it with my Shimano Metanium and use it for deep shaky head and soft plastic work.
Kinda heavier finesse stuff

Rearranged some other reels and retired a St Croix Triumph that rarely got used. Got that sold already.

Now I think my Arsenal is complete.

Still in process of downsizing. I was sweating letting some stuff go but surprisingly I feel pretty good about it.
Discovered that a lot of that stuff didn’t carry any emotional significance for me
Hopefully those who bought it will use it and make some memories.
I’m a big fan of high end rods. Particularly G Loo... (show quote)

Ben, if you’re like me, something else will come along that you’ll just have to have. But, what you have now sounds really awesome. Congrats.

Ben: There's no explaination of "THE ITCH"! When you get the itch, you just have to scratch it. There's no good explaination, so why bother. You are just perfecting your skill level, which has no top. Keep on, keeping on! I suppose that is why many skilled and talented fishermen take up fly fishing! Just Sayin....RJS

When I got my first GLX , the rods I used to really like seemed a lot less sweet.
I still have my first G Loomis. A 6-3 ML Bronzeback spinning with a Stradic CI 4 . My first “ High end “ set up . 50th birthday present to myself.
Still use it from time to time. Will never part with it

Ben: Why do men buy Bentley's or Rolls Royce automobiles? Because they can, I guess. Once, back in the late 1980's I was attending a Rotary club meeting in Mission TX. We had a guest visitor who had a Bentley and after the meeting we were talking and he let me sit in his vehicle. He was the owner of a foreign spice importerting biz and could afford this level of an expensive vehicle. It was a super set of wheels, but far out of my range. Just Sayin...RJS

Ben, congrats on the rod. I did some research and I must say this is definitely high end. Nano silica resin system. 15% lighter than the Glx and 20 % stronger.More impact resistant density carbon. Impressive, G loomis is awesome. Not to mention nickel titanium guides and a skeletonized reel seat. Supposed to be like holding a blank rod in your hand and being able to feel the tip. Highly sensitive. I’m thinking your blog just set me back a few bucks. Lol.
