In the wonderful state of ILLinOIZ if you are a disabled vet (at least 10%) your license is free. Just be sure to bring your weapon with you if you're fishing within Crook County (Chicago) or Lake Michigan.

Lynny wants to move to Alabama to be close to the kids. Here is the one reason I would consider it:

*Alabama Residents 65 years of age and over are exempt from purchasing the following licenses:

Hunting
Freshwater Fishing
Saltwater Fishing
State Duck Stamp
Wildlife Management Area
*See the Who is Exempt from Purchasing Recreational Licenses page for more information.

Must have Alabama driver's license or proof of permanent residence and age. (Does not include non-resident landowners).

Just saying.

Lived in Huntsville for a year Fish and I loved Alabama. Very pretty, great fishing and good Southern folk. Also very important back in 1977 were the many beautiful women with that Southern way of knowing how to treat a man. The only thing I didn't care were the tornados. Especially the one that ripped the whole corner off the building where I was living. Other than that I don't think you'd regret making that move.

here in the state of Washington the senior resident all waters fishing license is $19.05. But even though I really like the independent freedom loving and personal responsibility mindset of the traditional Texan I think even if the fishing licenses were free it would take a lot more than that for me to move down that way. I like the weather here that is not to hot and not to cold and the only snakes we have to worry about are the ones in government and yes we have salt water fishing and fresh water fishing. The only thing right now that would make me want to move is our insane liberal government but I hear with all the Californians moving into Texas that Austin is almost as liberal as Seattle may God help you.

Thanks Steve. Part of my email address has the word gypsy in it cause we move a lot. I lived in Asheville North Carolina for 13 years ( 1972-85)so I know about southern hospitality. I really love the fall color. The TOPO in the particular area were looking at seems to route the tornados into going around it. And you know what they say “ happy wife happy life. I figure if we get a little Rv we can leave during the hot summer. Looking forward to fishing Guntersville lake.

Yep, priced according to value offered. Texas has 350 miles of Gulf Coast and how many of your states can be placed inside Texas? Just Sayin...RJS

Yeah, Texas has a pitifully short coast line. Lake of the Woods, in my neck of the woods, has 65,000 miles of shoreline.

Barnacles Loc: Northern California

I live in Northern California and love everything about it except for the state's politics and the insane cost of living. Well, traffic is a problem in medium to large cities. Years back, someone asked my what my goals were. I told him that one of my long-term goals was to live in a place that didn't find it worthwhile to have traffic reports on the radio.

I spent the last 26 years of my working life mostly on the road. For what it's worth, the average women in the Southern states were better looking (to me, anyway) than the average women in the northern states.

While forming this opinion, I had to exclude any consideration of women in the Greater Los Angeles area, because there's way to much plastic (or something) skewing the average.
On that subject, by the way - Medically created figures may look spectacular out in public, but the genuine article(s) are WAY better in an intimate encounter. I've done some research. Don't ask for details.

To get back on-subject: I'm seriously considering moving to Texas. I'd miss the mountains we have here in California, but I think it'd be worth it. California has greater and more spectacular scenery that most other states, but you can hardly see it because of air pollution, crowds, and costs.

Spirit: Yes, and just how much of that coastline of CA is absolutely off limits for fishing due to being shear cliffs hundreds of feet high, and the coast only accessable by a sizeable boat. When you consider the miles of Texas Bays, it measures up into the thousands of miles.Just Sayin...RJS

California has just a little more coastline than Texas if you count the tidal waters. And I guess if you're in Texas you can just pack up the Jeep and drive right down to the water's edge. And I know this is not typical, but I have NEVER seen a bird like either of these on a California beach. And then there's something to be said for how we put our sunglasses to good use here in California.

They’ve got some fine looking swans 🦢 in California. That’s for sure. Especially in the southern part of the state. 😳😳😳😂🤣🐟on
