I have just verified that a Resident Senior citizen's all waters fishing license is $22.00. How does that compare with your state's exorbitant fees, Spirit? Just Sayin..RJS

GaryH: It could be the difference in PA's license fee is lack of any coast line. Texas has 350 miles of Gulf Coast lines, but sevral thousand coat lines when all the bays are considered. Just Sayin...RJS

Seniors 65 and older in Calif, for a married couple your monthly income can't exceed $1582.14 and that includes SS and any other income you have, and the lic fee for freshwater is $7.98 and ocean fishing is $5.67. Total $13.68 if you're making that kind of money you're probably living on the street. All Ca cares about is the $$$$$. to survive in So Cal you have to make at least $60,000 per year and own your own house with prop 13 for taxes that are based on what you paid for your house in say 1978, $96,500 like I did, not what's it worth now, in my case is around $600,000 now my taxes are around $ 2,000 per year. Not probably about over $10,000 per year. Also don't have any payments out standing. All we have going for us SoCal people is the weather, freshwater fishing sucks. So you pay the price!!! LW

Oh Sweet Jesus on toast.... another Texas whopper! Here's a fun fact...20 of the 25 biggest LM ever caught come from California. That one always causes my Whopper Nation (Texas) relatives to give me the finger and they aren't letting me know I'm #1. Happy New Year Robert!

That’s a good deal Robert. If you’re a disabled Veteran you get the entire combo(hunting/fishing) free. Now if I could just go and do either one of them, that’d be even better.

NoCalSteve: Not all Texans fish for black bass, some never do. At least half are dedicated to fishing in salt water, both bay and offshore. You wouldn't have that in California if not for the transplanted Florida strain of bass. I've personally never fished in a tournament nor know any fisherman personally who has. Just Sayin...RJS

I'd be in Az now with a lot of my SoCal friends who've moved there to retire with more $$$$ in thier pockets if I could talk the wife into it. She doesn't like the cold but could handle the heat in Prescott Az where I'd move to. It's no hotter there than Alpine Ca where we're at, but gets a little snow there, I've only seen just a trace of snow here 1800' elev, in 42 years here.

I better say something. I'll concede, Texas is a much better state than California. There. I said it. As I said in another post, y'all just better not come here, you really would not like it. The last time I was there driving west on I-10 from Midland to El Paso, I thought to myself, take a good long look Spirit, you're probably never gonna see or smell anything this gorgeous again in your life. Yeah, that's just what I was thinkin.

Spirit, Thank you, even if you were speaking with tongue in cheek! Either way, you were only viewing maybe 1/5 of this enormous state. If you had driven from Amarillo to Brownsville, you might have had a different opinion, or say, Beaumont to El Paso. And from Beaumont to Texarkana you might think you were in northern CA!

But don't worry, i personally will not trespass into your state. I've been there many times, both in the Air Force and working. I even have a number of relatives who live in CA.

I loved the weather and tempreature, hated the traffic--I can experience those horrendous traffic jams right here at home. Since I don't fly fish nor intend to begin fly fishing, I think you can be confident of being safe from my intrusion. Just Sayin...RJS
