Has anyone heard or tried using WD-40 on lures as an attractant?

WD-40 stands for "water displacement perfected on the 40 attempt" by a couple of guys in San Diego. My friend down the road told me that it was a "God Send" when he was in Vietnam. It helped to keep the guns working properly; too much humidity and gunk when crawling around.

Displacement, not "dispersal", you are correct, I misspoke.

It is also illegal here in California

It is illegal any where in the United States as it is a federal pollution law.

Have a friend who refuses to use Powerbait, still-fishin for trout... only uses Velveeta with a squirt of WD-40. Catches a lot of trout.
A 2-stroke motor pollutes in 20 minutes about 10x what a day's worth of WD-40 squirts do !
My go-to is ProCure scents.... oil, water-based, and the "new" BaitWax.... check them out, they all work well.

I have a 2 stroke but it doesn’t attract fish lol

Sounds like that might work. Next time I fish Folsom for Cats, I will give it a try.

We also used it for cats, but it works well with Stripers also!

WD40 does work as an attractant, and for the record it’s been deemed food safe by the FDA, most restaurant owners use it on they’re equipment.

Here’s a link to the MSDS (material safety data sheet) for the product. No fish oil.
