Has anyone heard or tried using WD-40 on lures as an attractant?

Are we catching fish or trying to pollute water with WD-40 nonsense? Wow.

I've heard a lot of people swear by it.

You won’t have a place to fish if everyone jumps on that bandwagon lol.

Never heard of it. It would also be extremely bad😂

I use to use it all the time and it worked pretty good but now you don't saturate your lure with it. I use to spray a rag and just rub a bit on my lure and it just puts a scent in the water that attracts the fish.
Have a friend who refuses to use Powerbait, still-fishin for trout... only uses Velveeta with a squirt of WD-40. Catches a lot of trout.
A 2-stroke motor pollutes in 20 minutes about 10x what a day's worth of WD-40 squirts do !
My go-to is ProCure scents.... oil, water-based, and the "new" BaitWax.... check them out, they all work well.
used it on smelt for Sturgeon. It sure seemed to make a difference. n a worm for trout and bass
I’ve heard of other’s using with increased success but have never tried it myself. Might give it a try using the scientific method this ice season.
We used to use it trolling Rapalas for Bluefish. When the schools scattered and the bite died, breakout a can of "Magic Sauce ". A little squirt on each plug and within 5minutes or so the bite's back on. We were competitive in my marina,so the guys that knew, kept the cans wrapped in tinfoil so others couldn't see what we used.

Is that being competitive, Fred, or is that being sneaky, or is there a difference?
Is it that time of the year that we do the WD40 thing again?
I have never used WD40 on my flies.

Well some guys used their homemade bunker/sardine oil, some used store bought fish scent, all kept theirs secret and so did we. Sounds fair to me.

I think that is the nature of the fisherman. It's a survivor instinct.

We use WD-40 all the time for salmon & steelhead here on the S. coast of Oregon... works great!!
I use W-D 40 somtimes for trout yes it does work somedays. As far as the environmental impact ?? Even s four stroke motor pollutes the water, lead sinkers pollute the water fertillizer the list goes on and on.
