I’m new to fishing near the JRB and was wondering how it is this time of year.

Welcome to the Forum, Springh. Sorry, I don't understand your question, where or what is the JRB?

Welcome, Springh1! Seeing as how you are located in Chesapeake; I'm guessing that "JRB" stands for (¿something to the effect of?) "James River Basin"... I fished scallops with a man from Chesapeake, way back in 1980, y he did "carry" myself & another winchman off the boat, to his house trailer in Chesapeake, for a REAL GOOD home cooked (by HIS Dear Wife) meal, after the trip was over. His name is Sam Hattly (NOT sure on that spelling); ¿Have you ever heard of him? I'm sorry, that I'm really no help, as far as answering your question goes. I'm guessing that Sam would be about 62 or 63 years old, by now. I'm betting that he could help you out with where to fish & with WHAT; if he still is around. I know that he was "one of those" that would "take a pass" on the next fishing trip, if it was hunting season, for something that he liked to eat!
We'd worked the back deck together, on a boat outta Fass Brothers, right there, by "The Strawberry Banks", at Hampton Roads.
Sorry. I was wondering if anyone is catching Striper around the James River Bridge this time of year.

Again, I'm useless to you. Sorry. Welcome all the same.
