Good Luck with the surgery Ivey. You’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner.

Glad to hear you are getting it done Ivey. The Mrs only had a slight tear and was in the sling for 2 weeks and PT was over in 2 visits. Every surgery procedure is different as you know. So enjoy that Turkey and time will heal that shoulder right up.

Thanks guys, I had to get out this morning and get my fish on and I can tell in the shoulder. Guess I better take it easy on it but spinning gear all I was using it for was reeling. The casting and horsing the fish in was right arm. Ha ha

Ivey:
I had shoulder surgery about a year ago. I had a partial tear in the main tendon, bone spurs and arthritis. The surgery was done arthroscopically and took about 4 hours. I went home after recovery with an arm brace and pain ball. The surgery was on Monday and the pain ball lasted until Friday PM. Hardly any pain until then. The pain was pretty bad Friday so I took pain pills for a couple of days then tapered off to Advil. I was supposed to wear the arm brace for about 6 weeks, but got rid of it after about 3 because it was cumbersome. Physical therapy is important. I started about a week after surgery and went for about 3 months. I'm lucky because I'm a fast healer. It's not fun, but my shoulder is a lot better today and I'm glad I did it.
Best of luck and let us know how you do.
Bob

I passed this in a PM but I've got a trick to quicker healing. 1 cup Beet root juice in the morning and ammonium nitrate pill in the evening. This floods the blood stream with oxygen that helps the healing process. After so many surgeries I've found this really works. plus my fingernails used to be pitted and looked horrible after taking this after my first back surgery even they look like a 20 year old and grow faster than I like. This is not recommended for people with bleeding problems and shouldn't be taken till after surgery.

Shave off the spur, sew up and re-attach the rotator. Sounds just like how I'd like to spend the holidays.....

Good luck to you and wishing a quick and pain-free recovery.

Be patient!

Hmmm, Ivey, I’ll have to try that. It’s been three years since surgery but I hurt a lot still. Think maybe that can help?

Can't hurt, I know after my last shoulder surgery they told me 6 months recovery at 3 I was fishing again.
My last surgery dental implants, the Dr. was very surprised the implant seats set up in what he called record time, that's bone growing around and into the seats the tooth screws into. I told him what I did and he started recommending it to others. But Like I said before , It's not for people with bleeding problems and don't use it until after surgery. I use it every day but have stopped until after my surgery on the 2nd.

CORRECTION: the pill I take is NOT! Ammonium Nitrate NOT! It is, Nitric Oxide, and one cup Beet root juice I use this powder. Don't taste that great but a cup ain't to hard to get down.

I was wondering why you’d be taking ammonium nitrate. That’s stuff will kill you. We used it at the chemical plant I worked at. Nitric Oxide is what a lot of race cars use to boost the engine. It’s used on speed boats too.

Had a senior moment there, yep but your body needs it too. Good for blood flow.
