If your in close quarters or public it is a good precaution. I am saying its about doing the right thing for others. Everything in life should not only serve ones self. I have seen more people using a plastic shield type device used for grinding etc as a way to avoid having a mask on. So when they or anyone else sneezes etc it is the forcefield to stop cross contamination between people.

My Selfish Jerk comment is also after witnessing a bunch of goofballs here in Oregon storming the State Capitol and having protests about wearing masks. Stating that masks etc are an attack on their Freedom. They are selfish jerks in my honest opinion. Sooner or later we all should so a little for our neighbors our country and others surrounding us. That will never be considered selfish by anyone because its called kindness and could easily be considered compassion. Medical Professionals have used masks etc forever to protect others. The masks were never to protect the person wearing them. If everyone would focus on teamwork we might get somewhere better. There is no ME in TEAM nor will there ever be.

Attic is a good place to be. I get the idea of why it happens. The simple promise is that people come to this site to see and learn about Fishing. Not dweebs in DC.

Hence the whole idea behind social distancing. Which I practice faithfully. If one good thing has come from all of this it’s made people stay the hell outa my bubble. The “selfish jerk” is the one who wears a mask and thinks it’s ok to get in everyone’s space. If you are wearing a mask you should be protected right? Why worry about it? Just wear your mask and you are safe from all others. Don’t go around people and you won’t need to suffer trying to breath with a mask on. My wife has athsma and can’t wear a mask. People don’t care about that. Within 30 seconds of putting a mask on she can’t breath at all. So she should kill herself to protect others or how is that supposed to work? She, as well as I, don’t go places we might need a mask. That don’t matter to some people. If you’re not wearing a mask now you’re selfish? “Come on man!!!”

I'm with you, Pal. I wear a mask as little as possible. I'm 68 and in great health. Outdoors and at home, mask-off; indoors and shopping, mask -on, or store gets in trouble, or they won't let one in... 'cuz, ya know, there are MASK-NAZIS out there, all ready to pummel people with their virtue-signalling and sense of superiority 'cuz they, you know... "care so much". Ha! BS.
Definitely don't wear one when I'm traveling in my car! That's just ridiculous.

We all know what the masks are for. The CDC as well as the WHO recommend NOT wearing a plastic face shield or a surgical mask used by doctors. Neither one will guard against the spread of covid. According to them. Home made custom masks are not recommended either but anything seems to work with those complaining about people not wearing masks. I saw a sign on a store front in central Oregon (I HAVE to go back there Saturday so I’ll get a picture of it) it says “we are not a mask exempt business. If you can’t wear a mask you can’t come in”. That’s illegal you know.

I’m just wondering what Thanksgiving and, or Christmas, holidays in general have to do with staying home. I see people on here saying they’re not going to see family over the holidays but they show pictures of going out fishing with their buddies. Like yesterday. There's plenty of talk about fishing and hunting trips all over the place and people will travel hundreds of miles to do it but when it comes to family holiday visits they’re not going. It just kinda confuses me why someone would travel 500 hundred miles a month ago to go hunting or fishing in an area they don’t know with people they have never met but won’t go see their daughter a month later. I mean not wearing a mask or anything and it’s just fine to go hang out with people fishing and hunting but they won’t go to thanksgiving dinner with family. 🤷‍♂️

There are people on both sides of the COVID-19 argument and both sides have strong opinions. These strong opinions are keeping people from communicating their views because many are afraid of confrontation which is exactly what many people think Corona is all about. There is "a lot" of false positive testing. I have a neighbor that sent in 20 test kits without using them on anyone and 19 came back positive. Many people get sick without ever having had trouble breathing. People have always gotten sick but now it seems that everyone who gets sick has corona virus. Most people don't know anyone with COVID-19 and those that do, never mention if they had any trouble breathing. Hospitals have doctors, nurses and "case workers". Case workers look after the interests of the hospitals which is the money. Hospitals get paid a lot extra for Corona virus patients. It's no secret that COVID-19 is shutting down many of all but essential business. As for me, I don't think that COVID-19 is any worse than the annual influenza. Divide and conquer.

I don’t go far to fish and I go alone or with son or so Lin law. You see all kinds of people shopping at Walmart and other big box stores. You do have a point.

Hey Catfish, I believe private businesses have the right to refuse service to anyone they feel like. Remember the "No Shirt No Shoes" motto? Same goes for masks. It is legal. It's like letting someone into your home and you tell them to take their shoes off for whatever reason - keep the place clean, it's a custom, whatever. They have that right to deny entry. Now if it was a public place, that is a different story. It depends on City and or State ordinances.
If I owned a business, I wouldn't care. Whatever it takes to get customers in. :-) But I would probably disinfect the store after closing :-)
BTW, I lived in Caldwell, ID and did a lot of kayak fishing at McCall Lake And Payette. But most of the time I was fishing Swan Falls and CJ Strike for smallies and Yellow Perch :-) Good times!!!

I agree that COVID is like the flu. The media is being overly dramatic IMO. Scare tactic. It's ruining the economy, getting rid of small Mom and Pop shops and creating a lot of homeless. The Rich are getting richer and the poor, a whole lot poorer. The Middle class is surviving, barely. I only wear a mask out in public if I am told to. I do wear masks in stores and where I work, because it is company policy. I take it off every chance I get!!! I do not drive with one on. I don't fish with one on, unless it is smoky or it stinks, or
to keep the sun off my face ;-)
