I enjoy reading the reports from around the country. It's like traveling without having to get in the car ! However, I'd like to see more from the Southeast area, especially from North Georgia and SE TN. There is a lot of rain in this part of the country, which means lots of water and lots of fish habitat. Many dams mean many impoundments, with a good bit of access to the public. I particularly enjoy catching the Alabama Spotted Bass here in it's native range. It has been introduced in CA and grows to humongous proportions out there. I also catch catfish and all types of panfish on light tackle using mainly jigs which I make. I look forward to reading and contributing on Fishing Stage.

Greeting's Scaledown 72 from RB in Dalton Ga. The North Ga area is great . We have carters lake in Chatsworth Ga . thats loaded with LM,SM and spot's as well as Stripers ( I have not caught any STRIPPERS yet . must be using the wrong bait ) . A lot of smaller lakes ,ponds ,streams and creeks . What ever your little heart desires . South East Tenn . is close by with great fishing with more large lakes that you can drive to in a short amount of time . If you need any help just let me know . RB
Hello RB and thanks for the reply. I moved from TN to Gilmer County seven years ago and I am familiar with Dalton. Of the waters you mentioned, which are your favorites, and where have you been fishing at lately ? JG
Hello Fred and thanks for the reply. What goes on over in your area ? I haven't yet figured out how to post photos but should be able to eventually.
Thanks for the welcome. I've already been enjoying this site by reading the daily blogs. I've had some fantastic fishing around Port Lavaca...but not lately ! JG

Hello Scaledown 72 last week I fished Toccoa river at tammen park in Blue Ridge Ga .I did alright @ 12 stockers and one that measured @ 13 or 14 inches forgot my tape so i'am not sure . Then on Thursday I fished Hiawassee River at Reliance Tenn. I had a great day there I netted 4 fish before rising water drove me out of the river . But I switched to aspinning outfit and finished the day with a couple more. At 70 yrs old with 5 ruptured disks and a bad heart its best to not fight the water too much . I fish alone now because all of my grand kids are in college and high school and no one is available most of the time . Thats why there's so many I's in this . How about you where do you fish ? Blue ridge is a short distance from you if you are in Ellijay . Do you fly fish ? What kind of fish do you go after ? Boat ,wade or bank fish. If you bank fish Carters lake is not the best place to fish . Its deep @ 430 to 460 feet at the dam and in most places 30 or 40 Yrds from the bank it drops to 200 feet deep , so its rough to fish . Let me know and I might be able to suggest a couple of places . RB

Welcome Scaledown. Not sure how close it is for you but we have a FS member named Ivey that fishes Tim's Ford Lake near the TN/AL/GA border. He knows his stuff.

Welcome, scaledown72! I'm nearly completely ignorant of your whole neck o' the woods; other than I'd met an older gent from Ellijay, GA; 40 years ago, who'd made his way to Stock Island, after his job at "the sawmill" evaporated. ... So, sorry I can't really be of any help to you, on the fishing advise.
But, yeah, there's people on here, near you... They'll be along, I'd guess.
Howdy neighbor ! Thanks for the reply and info. I am 72 and would be fishing today except that I have severe arthritis and have an MRI coming up tomorrow. I managed to get into and out of an inflatable boat last week and caught enough crappie for dinner. I caught my first brown trout at Tammen Park a few years ago. I couldn't follow it up on subsequent trips so haven't been back. I have a fly rod/automatic reel but mainly do ultralight spinning on flat water w/ 2 & 4 pound test.
I've been up to Reliance numerous times - mainly driving around and taking pictures.
I've already got a laundry list of problems that I'm having, using this site. I might be better off just continuing to read, rather than participate.
