Mouth looks different than quillback carpsucker. Definitely not a bowfin. Thanks for all the answers. I’ll try to get a better picture or two next time I catch one.

Looks like a Bowfin, Mudfish. There are Snakeheads in south Fla. Bullseye only. Thats not one.

We used to go to the fish monger in Michigan City to get smoked chubs. Delicious. But I think that's a different fish from this. Maybe whiting?

Yeah, we used to catch them all the time in the trout streams up north Jersey,fought like a trout but just a chub ,they were a pain in the butt, just stole your bait.

A lot of our mountain streams has chubs they make it hard to drift a red worm

It's a fallfish. Dorsal fin is too small to be a quillback or a bowfin and scales are too large to be a bowfin.

Looke like something I caught a few months ago and told it was a lizard fish.

Mullet or politically correct pike minnow. Commonly known as a sqawfish.
