Thanks guy for the info,Ken have a safe weekend
Dude: There are trade shows for all this gear. I no longer know where, when or the names of such. About 10 years ago i was in the hunt for a specific reel and finally stumbled upon all that. I also found a tackle show on the coast near Portland OR that had what I wanted. I mailed the owner a camera filled with film, asked him to shoot the entire roll at the different things pretaining to his reel collection and send it back to me. That's how i decided and bought a couple of the reels i was seeking Just Sayin...RJS
Never been to a reel show. I’m sure I would wreck my bank account
eBay has a tremendous selection from entry level to the most collectible.
I haven’t bought a antique reel in a while. Got me jonesing a little
Ben, that is really a nice collection of reels and you have them displayed well too. The Zebco reel in this post is a Zebco Super 22. Have never seen one like this before. I posted these two reels here on FS before. Here is the story behind these reels. I was working at a senior independent and assisted living facility part time driving residents wherever they need to go. They had a garage sale and there were two tackle boxes full of lures and stuff. I was going to buy both of them, but one of the residents grandson wanted one of them, so I let him have it. The price on that one was $3. The other tackle box was a lot older and I didn’t get a chance to look inside it. The old tackle box had a $2 price tag. One of the young gals I work with also wanted the tackle box but didn’t want the contents. So we split the cost.
When I got home I went through it and found those two reels, a fish scale still in the box, a couple of really old metal fish stringers and a bunch of old lures. I kept most of the lures. There were two lures that were small bat lures, a white one and black one, both about the size of a quarter. She was into bats so I gave them to her. Later someone here on FS said they were collectors items worth $80 each. They had a house fire some time later and the box and lures were distroyed.
That is the story on those reels. I still have them and are in great shape with the line still on them.
Gotta admit , that is one interesting reel. Never seen one before. I have a bunch of reel collector books and don’t recall ever seeing this one
Garage sales are great sources for collectors. Most people don’t know what they have. Estate sales are even better
