Got the raft out and went to Lake Natomas this morning. Fun just floating around throwing a lure to the bottom then reeling it up about 6 ft and bouncing it up and down. This little guy grabbed it and fought like a big one. hehe . I love trout fishing !!

Good job and welcome!

[quote=Spiritof27]I haven't caught anything ON anything yet this year, but before this skunk arrived at my door it was one of my favorites if I wanted to get some distance on my casts. For trout and smallies, but I've even caught bluegill on them. Anything in the surf with an appetite for other fish will hit it, and you can throw the bigger ones about a half mile.[/quote

Are you casting far enough to hit the water or what’s the deal? This year is about over. You’d better hurry up.

I fished Flathead lake July 29th . Went on a charter for lake trout. It was different. All I did was reel em in. The guide did all the fishing. Stayed in Kalispell by Somers. Coming back to Montana at Xmas time. Maybe Ice fishing for the first time. Going down to the Ruby river for sure. Best time fishing ever was on the Ruby.

You ain't lying about cast distance. I had been using mepps fully dressed spinners mostly and I can cast em pretty good. A friend clued me in on the kastmaster and I can sling a 3/8 oz 50 yards almost. I bought some 2oz kastmasters with the added tails, haven't used em yet but excited to do so. The weather in the southwest this week is brutal.

Good looking trout. Looks super tasty. I envision some garlic and butter in their future.

I kinda wondered that when he said he hasn’t caught a fish all year. Not sure I’d WANT to know where his favorite spot is.😂

With the luck he's had this year maybe he should just go fishin at swim beach where they have the strippers.

Probly, but at least he might catch something. Hopefully nothing that he couldn't get rid of though.
