Nice catch Doug, that's a beautiful eye there. Glad you could find them in the rough water. Great pictures, thanks for sharing.

Fresh water sheepshead is a drum. Very similar to the black drum we have in the salt water only much smaller. Most of the ones we get are 2 - 10 lbs but they can reach 30 lbs.

Hey Fever, I 'm from NC as well and the pictures had me scratching my head. I always have to remember that the great lakes are fresh water. They are such a large bodies of water its had to compare when you are thinking about lake fishing.

Hey Fredfish, that isn't rough water. We were on lake Michigan last weekend working out of Sturgoen Bay. We were in a 21 foot boat and had 6-7foot rollers. First time for the wife being on big water ended up a little seasick. We were out around 9 miles. We caught 4 little kings for the whole weekend, but had a great time with the family.

Hey MAS, I've fished Long Island Sound my whole life, and offshore for a couple years, but I've never fished the Great Lakes. I didn't know you had a 21footer, I figured 17 or 18ft walleye style aluminum boat. Trolling in 2footers can be tiring in a light boat. I imagine 6-7footers,even in a 21footer has got to be challenging to say the least. Hope the wife forgives you for the trial by fire.LOL Glad to hear everyone had a good time, and got some fish.

Like I said we had a lot of fun and felt safe in my cousins boat. He has been catching some nice king salmon this week already. This is a pic of his boat.

Lake Erie was rolling 1-2'.. Surface temps about 74°.. Fish not overly active but still came off with a box full of fish.. My buddy Ron got the label of King of the Sheepshead! Seems like that was every other pull for him. Lol! A couple under size had to go back in, but that is a good sign for next year. The cutting board in the one pic is a 32" board just for scale. Nice day overall!!

That’s a big fish Doug. Congratulations on your trip. 👍

That's a Beast MAS, she looks like she can handle whatever you guys could. What's she got for power?

He is running a 150 Evenrude with a 9.9 Tahatso kicker motor. He is still trying to figure out everything with the autopilot. It is pretty slick. He says it is a northwest design boat.

Mighty fine walleyes Doug, have you ever tried drifting with Erie Dearies wit 1/2 crawler on the hook?
