Abu Garcia Pro Max 3 combo. 7ft mh rod, 8 bearing 7.1:1 reel, just under 100 bucks.

Sorry I wasn't aware of one reel with that ratio. My question is why? I can run buzz baits with a 5:8 ratio. I guess if they build it, someone will buy it.

He!!, Abu makes the Revo Rocket which is 10.1:1 and all the other big brands have at least 1 in the 8-9:1 range. I don't know, maybe less tiring if you're throwing for 8hrs a day.

Hmm, just ordered a new one yesterday, didn't see any of those, not that I would have bought one, but why? I have a 5:8 coming in, and they gave me a choice of that or 5:2. All my others are 5:8 so I kept the same.

After breaking some rods that are twice the price, I bought a MY Ugly Stik and didn't like it. Next I bought an Ugly Stik Elite Medium and really like it. Later I bought another one and will again on the next break. They are around $50 with a 7 year warranty. Now you have a $100 left for a reel.

I just ordered another bait caster today. What I got coming is not in your budget. But someone said to make up your own. Not sure if it is cheaper, but you get what you want, not what they push. Now the gear ratio that you want is not going to happen. I know of no one making that ratio. The good thing is you don't need anything that high. A 5:8 to 1 is fast enough, and some of the lures you mentioned like the chatterbait will run on top at that ratio. Texas rigs has the least amount needed, and crankbaits would lose fish at that speed. And the rod is usually a fast tip, and medium heavy, for general fishing, and stiffer, if fishing worms mostly. Good luck in your search.

Looking for my first baitcast combo. I've used my friend's baitcaster before so I know I want one. Budget isn't very flexible. Any help is appreciated

EDIT: Looking for a good all-around rod. Probably 7 ft MH fast tip and preferably a 7:1 gear ratio but gear ratio is flexible. I mostly fish swim jigs, texas rigs, and chatterbaits (among other things of course) but that's what I'd throw on this combo
