Ever been out with your fishing partner both using the same bait and even throwing to the same spot? Of course you have and if not, it will happen.

So there we are my buddy and i both throwing diesel Z
man opening nights and he has me 6 to 1. Both have the red headed Z man jig head both using the same scent squirted into the lure. Darn he is now 7 to 1.

Look a little more closely at his catch and his jig is a little smaller. Then he tells me he has the 1/8 oz on. So i switch from a 3/16oz to a 1/8oz and it was fish on.

Who would think that little bit would be a lot?

I had a brother in law that would stick with the same bait or lure all day because he thought it should work even though the rest of us were pulling in fish and he wasn’t

Ended the day strong and didn't catch him on the count but lesson learned.

I'm told that a fly fisherman may have the correct fly species on, but until it is the same size that the trout are taking of the live insects, you are not going to do as good. It really is about the size that matters.

We were fishing for trout near Rapid City SD both of us were using a red and white Mepps my partner was catching fish I wasn't. We used the same size Mepps. The difference my Mepps had a squirrel tail his didn't. When I took the squirrel tail off I caught fish.

Wife and an another couple were fishing with me fishing for trout. Limit was 8 per day. I had 2 to their almost limit. I washed my hands with lake water and mud from the bank. I limited out before they did. Amazing what makes a difference.

Ended the day strong and didn't catch him on the count but lesson learned.

Usually the difference in weight means a different drop rate, and that can make all the difference.

Also the line being used varies from person to person and how it floats or sinks

Probably same as the Ounce diff in the jig head. Now our braid manufacturers were diff, but we are both 12lb braid users. I am leaning towards the jig head weight dif.
