Not her, nope, never. I had one, even had fish on it, some times. Seems the alligators like an easy meal. Then it was turtles, so now a good stringer keeps the ice cold, and the fish out of water.

Back in 1972 I was living in McAlester Ok. It was mid summer and the lake was low. Perfect for frog gigging. My sister would hold the light on the frogs and I would gig them. I was wearing shorts and tennis shoes. I used the metal stringer for the frogs, and clipped the end on my belt loop. It was a good night. We had about 8 or 9 nice ones. We got ready to call it quits and I unclipped to see our catch. To both our surprise, there was a snake attached to the first frog. Scared us to death. I tossed the stringer and frogs and we high tailed it out of there. Later on I thought about it and figured the snake couldn't have bit us while he had a frog half way in his mouth. We were too scared to think about that though. We never waded again for frogs. Now I use a boat and put frogs in a cooler.

They're okay for smaller fish in fresh water but I watched a guy nearly get towed under here in N. Florida when a shark grabbed his stringer with fish while clamped to his belt. Towed him a good ways before he was able to get it off. Lost his gear in the process and added a lot of gray hair.

Salty Chief: One never, never, ever ties their stringer to their clothing when fishing in salt water. fix it with a knot that will untie if a shark decides to have a snack. It has happened too often and is dangerous. One nevr knows just how big that shark is or just how hungry it may be...Just Sayin...RJS

What kinda salty chief are you? I'm a little salty myself. USN - 68 - 89. Been a while. I'm 'bout over it. Well, maybe not.

I'm a retired USAF CMSgt w/ 30+ years. Worked a few years with the Navy at an ASWC in Portugal and got inducted (if you can call it that) into the Navy's Chiefs Group...an honor. My salty comes from living on the bay here in N Florida and fishing out in the Gulf of Mexico. Just need some cooler weather. 97°F today w/ real feel of 112.

It’s ok till Mr. Turtle pays a visit. Even seen a water snake take a shot an IF you’re thinking of releasing likely not survive. Myself I prefer a mesh basket but that’s me

Yes, it's what I use. Don't forget to the it good or a 4-5 lb. Catfish will take off with it. Speaking from experience. Last year I lost one. Lesson learned. 😕

Is this a good stringer. Are their better ones. What do you use. Will it hold a very big fish. Got any pictures of fish on a stringer. Any other ways of keeping fish. Unscramble this and catch something on it. NIRSEPN.

I hardly ever use one so I bought a plastic one, so it doesn't rust in the bottom of my gear bucket. I've had a couple 3or4 pound pike on there for an hour or two without breaking.
