Bad guys don't care about laws or negotiations, they'll get what ever they want.
Should we ban the right of people to own fishing equipment because some people poach?

Your right Larry. Get rid of the bad guys. Problem solved.

It is my understanding that this house bill will create a 30% tax on all guns and 50% tax on all ammo. I am against it. How about you?

I whole heartedly agree with this sign.

actually get rid of the incumbents in the House and that would solve a lot of problems. Start at the top.

Would that send a message or what? Let's fire every damn one of em come November. They're all up for
re-election. Who ever the incumbent is, vote for the other guy, or girl. I'll do my part!

I was just watching 60 minutes, ghost guns are the thing. They are legal to buy and they showed a gun shop selling them here in California. They are a gun kit, they even give you a drill bit to make them work. YouTube videos on how to assemble them. They don't have serial numbers. One of the school shootings was from a ghost gun according to the show. No background checks to buy one.
They interviewed an x-ATF agent who at the time suggested putting serial numbers on the body but the government hasn't done anything about that. They said that they are just buying parts. Seems to me that they just don't want to do anything about it.
Interesting story on how to bypass the law.
A California Sheriff showed everything from a hand gun to AK rifles all made from these kits.

I know it's an unpopular view, but if the NRA doesn't ease up and allow some sort of "reasonable" firearms regulation, and the mass shootings continue, there is going to be serious debate in this country about repeal of the second amendment. Times and the country have changed since the 18th century. Time for folks to realize that and sit down and work out a solution.

If the NRA eases up and we let the left make the decisions our second amendment will be history in a second. Their “reasonable” fire arms regulation is “take away fire arms and blame guns for violence”. I’m not seeing how you think that’s gonna help our second amendment rights. There has been little “reasonable gun regulation” presented outside of back ground checks, which I agree with, but that don’t keep criminals from getting guns. It just makes it harder for the rest of us. But of course that’s been the opposing agenda he last few years and look where we’re at right now. Stay at home orders and our rights being violated. That didn’t come from the NRA.

SERIOUSLY ? YES ! There ARE people out there who shouldn't have guns or even access to
them ! That said, THEY are the problem, not the guns
themselves, which are merely a tool, and just about ANY tool can be mis-used ! People are killed with hammers, screwdrivers, ice-picks; are you proposing we ban them as well ? If someone gets stabbed with a fork or
butterknife, would you propose banning all tableware ? Put the blame where it belongs ! Lock up the fruit-cakes and LEAVE them locked up ! OR, bring back
capitol punishment ! Leave the law-abiding gun owners alone !

I’d say go for it, I already own enough guns and ammo to last me and my son a lifetime so any law like this passed won’t affect me in any way. One problem I have here is people want to put everyone in a special box. If you’re for it you’re a liberal, left wing nut. If against you’re a right wing gun nut. I’d suggest everyone has an opinion and that opinion shouldn’t be cause to place you in a box.

The true problem here is the gun industry using every chance they can to make a big buck off suffering. Almost as long as I can remember someone has been coming to get my guns.

Eisenhower said, Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. Gun enthusiasts said he didn't like guns.

Kennedy said, Although it is extremely unlikely that the fears of governmental tyranny which gave rise to the Second Amendment will ever be a major danger to our nation, the Amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic civilian-military relationships, in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of his country. For that reason I believe the Second Amendment will always be important.

Johnson signed the gun control act in 1968, gun owners said he was going to try and take your guns, he didn’t

Nixon, said "Guns are an abomination." and people said he would take my guns. he didn’t.

Carter: support of banning "semi-automatic assault guns." People said he would take my guns, he didn’t

Governor Reagan said, "no reason why on the street today a citizen should be carrying loaded weapons" and that guns were a "ridiculous way to solve problems that have to be solved among people of good will." He was going to take our guns, didn’t.

George H. W. Bush, Bush resigned his lifetime membership in the National Rifle Association over the group's reference to federal agents as a collection of "jackbooted government thugs." In a May 3, 1995 letter to the NRA's president, the former president protested the comments made by Wayne LaPierre in a NRA mass-mailing to its membership.
In the solicitation letter, LaPierre wrote, "If you have a badge you have the government's go-ahead to harass, intimidate, even murder law-abiding citizens." He also referred to the ATF: "Not long ago, it was unthinkable for federal agents wearing Nazi bucket helmets and black storm trooper uniforms to attack law-abiding citizens."
"Your broadside against federal agents deeply offends my concept of service to country," wrote an uncharacteristically angry Bush, who as president and political candidate, frequently had praised the NRA. "I am outraged. Please remove my name from your membership list."
In a brief statement, LaPierre refused to apologize.
After this the NRA said Bush would take your guns, he didn’t.

Bill Clinton, Passed the Brady Bill, After this people and the NRA really went on that the government would take your guns, they didn’t.

George Bush, In debates during both the 2000 and the 2004 presidential campaigns, Bush stated his support for background checks for gun buyers and for trigger locks. Additionally, he said on multiple occasions that the minimum age for carrying a handgun should be 21, not 18. NRA and gun rights advocates railed he would take our guns, he didn’t.

Barack Obama “Every single year, more than 30,000 Americans have their lives cut short by guns — 30,000. Suicides. Domestic violence. Gang shootouts. Accidents. Hundreds of thousands of Americans have lost brothers and sisters, or buried their own children. Many have had to learn to live with a disability, or learned to live without the love of their life.”
He was defiantly going to take our guns, he didn’t.

Donald Trump "I think background checks are important." Then, two days later, "I really believe that the NRA -- I've spoken to them numerous times -- they're great people... and frankly I really think they're gonna get there also." That same day, Trump said that he had spoken with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and that the the Kentucky Republican "is totally on board" with expanded background checks. (McConnell's office made clear that the majority leader hasn't committed to any proposals yet.) Who really knows what his final stance will be but I’ll bet we still have our guns when he leaves office.

Seems all our leaders bow to big money and that concerns me a lot more than someone coming after my guns.

When our government can be bought by large organizations it is not good for citizens.

Now place your labels on me.

The snag in your reasoning is that we wouldn't know who the bad guys are without laws. If something isn't illegal then what prevents anyone from doing it? Not passing laws because some people won't obey them is a specious argument. This is a nation of laws, not men. Without laws we are doomed to anarchy. Without laws there are no criminals and no law-abiding citizens, just the fastest on the draw. Is that what we want?

Thank's Oz, I consider myself a true American down to the core, I'm also a human. In these days of division we should all take a long think about that. How are the left and right so different, we all try to support our families love our loved ones and our country. We all need to eat and drink, we all live and die and in that death we all become equal. To bad we have to go to our grave before we are considered equal, there's so much we could get done if we could see past the labels.

Your post brings up good points.
My wife owns a hand gun. She had to take a gun safety course and a background check. She also waited for the time period to end before she purchased the weapon. She also learned how to use it at the indoor shooting range.
The "bad guys" will steal a gun or buy a stolen one from someone else.
Gun laws are for honest people who do the right thing. Just like locks are to keep honest people out.
There are plenty of gun laws on the books now. There are people who do things legally and there are people who don't do things legally.
What good does putting up a sign that says "gun free zone" and some nut case kid brings a weapon in their backpack?
Signs and so called new gun laws just make some people feel better.
Just my opinion, your mileage may vary.

Just in case they are not paying attention, I have a box of 12 and 20 gauge shotgun shells sitting in the window by the front door. Any other points of entry they should have knocked at the front door.

About all I got to say about the subject at this point.
