Either of the two units will work, the Hook gives you down and side imaging.

I had the hook 7 a few years ago and had problems with it. It eventually quit working. I switched to humminbird helix 7 and 10, and haven't had any problems so far.

My striker 4 works great, simple to use. And typically on sale at the GPS store. Around 100.00 dollars. I mounted my transducer on my electric motor ( attachment comes with the unit. Works great for me.
