My granddad was the one that taught me about critters and plants and such. I loved going with him to the woods to forage and fish and hunt. He never once laid a hand on me, but he let me know right from the gitgo that he was not gonna put up with any crap from me. If I didn't behave or if a whined, next time he went I was not welcome. That was punishment enough for me. So I didn't argue and I did what I was told and I tried to learn and show him that I had, the best I could. And that's all he ever asked of me. Do your best. I've learned over the years since I've become a man what a great teacher he was. He was very knowledgeable and taught by example. I should hope to be remembered as half the man he was.

Thatâs true. One of my clients stopped his step son from beating on his mother, my clientâs wife. Grabbed him by the collar and pulled him off. The kid was 17 at the time. The kid called the cops and my buddy (client) spent 10 days in jail for abusing the âchildâ. Paid a healthy fine and was ordered to never lay a hand on the kid again. Needless to say he ended up beating his mother up when my buddy wasnât home. Not once but three times and the the law wouldnât do anything to the kid. Heâd just lie to the cops and get away with it. The kid turned 18, my buddy, knocked him out and pitched him out in the yard. Told if he tried to come back in or if he heard a word outa the cops he wouldnât have to worry about calling them again. Hasnât seen the kid since and that was 3 years ago. Last he heard he was in jail in Northern California on drug and battery related charges. He just smiled when he told me about it. đ

Any word on the fishing up there Dozer? The lead fish checker called me a couple days ago and said theyâre looking at starting May 15th on the Columbia. Depending on Washington status with fishing.
The stick worm, is super trout bait. Did not however know that they grew into helgamite. Not sure what happened to my other post but this is the helgamite I fished with.

I believe it's the same just a younger version
That is a dobsonfly nymph, better known as a hellgrammite. They live in streams under rocks and they are terrific trout bait. As the name implies, when they mature they turn into dobsonflies. They bite! Look at the jaws on that sucker!
That is a Dobson fly, the adult form of the hellgramite.
