What are you growing over there Mike lol does kind of look like a hellgrammite done it. Here ya go
I've seen hellgrammites in the water, but I've never actually seen a dobsonfly in the flesh. I hellgrammites you need to be careful with, they a vicious little devils and will give you a nasty bite. Dobsonfly? Do they bite? Sure Lukes like it could.
Hellgrammites has large mandrills and can give a nasty bite after they pupate into a dobsonflly their mandrills are quite small but they can nip. The hellgramites are Awsome smallmouth bait.

Loc: Lake Onalaska, Sunfish Capitol of the World!
Hellgramites in the larva stage, are super trout bait.
We call em grampus here before they get there wings. They are great fish bait, after they get the wings never had much luck.
I fish with hellgramites all the time when I was a kid.never got bit. In the spring they crawl out if the water attach to a tree, rock whatever? Then turn into a Salmon Fly. That picture is not a salmon fly.!!!
After looking them up lol what we called Hellgramites, probly weren't. Musta been lied to as a small child.ha🤣😂 that's what's wrong with me ?? Maybe. Salmon Fly and larvey pictured below

May fly (halgramite). And they will pinch you a good one. Prior to hatching they look like sticks in their shell. The larvae in the stick-like shell works good too.
