I use those alot easy to add a swivel just thread it over the jaws. They are a NO FAIL clip.youll either break the line or tear the hooks or eye if you lure. Not so good going thru smaller lures tho there to thick.you lose ALOT if action unless your using rings. Good clips for what there used for tho.

I almost exclusively now use just a perfection loop on the end of my main line. You can mate to that with anything you like very easily. Even to one of those snap swivels. Perfection loop. Don't leave home without it.

Now that is a pic I can see even without my specs on. Thanks Oz, when I get back Amazon gets a hit. They look like it would be worth a try .

The least amount of crap hanging off your line the more fish you catch. Period
Always try to tie your hook/lure directly to your line
Exceptions if you use a spinner or maybe a crank bait then a snapswivel is a good idea to keep line twist down

Plum, I tried them some years ago and while they worked ok with a solid eye like a jig or a hook. When I tried them with anything with a split ring, like a crankbait, on was OK but getting plug off was rough. Usually resulting in getting stuck by a treble or two. I changed to a Duo-Lock snap and it works well. I use#1(20 lb) or #2(30lb) for all my freshwater rods. They have a nice radius that doesn't hinder lures action. Give them a try.

Why do use them instead of a barrel swivel and regular clip?

Hey there Plumbob
As you know I'm totally new to lures. One of the lures recommended had a PDF download on how to use it. I couldn't do a cut and paste. But I did a snap of it. Also it may only apply to this lure, lol I wouldn't l know.

Sorry Plumbob,

Most of what I throw doesn't spin so no line twist. The less hardware the better the lure action. They were all intended to be tied directly to the line. I just don't like to retie for every lure change.

Used one similar, but no cross over, just straight sides, for Salmon fishing to go between main line and leader to attach sinker swivel. Worked fine and easy to attach/detatch sinker.

I too am interested in duo locks but I wish to attach to a bead swivel and slip leader in and out of the clip after threading bait for mooching. Any opinion on whether it will weaken my 20lb leader?

As long as you use the correct size, strength, you should be fine.

my previous question referred to duolock clips and i should have been saying tactical anglers clips. in my usage with moving a 20lb leader loop on and off, should i worry about bruising the line?
