I don't think the issue is really exercising as far as the virus prevention is concerned. To me its more about social distancing. When I'm out on my boat fishing alone, there is no doubt that I am far from any other human so no danger of transmitting or catching any virus. As for the subject here, I have had days where I had to land several 30 pound blue catfish while alone in my boat. At the end of the day I was exhausted. Some call that old age, i call it exercise.

Never considered it a workout. Just always figured I was having fun. Guess you could call it entertainment.
Enjoying the weather and possibly getting something good to eat, who could ask for more?
If you want a workout, go for a long walk, run or go to the gym. I hope we can do that again one day soon!

Getting out in the fresh air is good in itself whether you’re fishing or not. Staying in your home is the worst thing you could do right now if you’re not feeling well. It’s condenses the problem. Get out, get some fresh air and be smart. Don’t hang around people.

Fighting 20+ lbs Reds, Jacks and Blg Drum. Burning more. One helluva workout. Damn sure is exercise! The best!

Hi Cain Perez,
Sounds like a beautiful place.

Fishing does not require physical or close proximity with anyone and if I take someone with me it is already someone with whom I am in quarantine. When I surf fish, at the age of 67 now, I walk approximately .75 of a mile from my car through sand while pulling all my gear to get to my destination. Sometimes I walk further distances depending on where it is that I am surf fishing. I work the surf multiple times with a cast net for bait, and I cast a huge of amount of times with artificial lures. When that is done I start working the surf with bottom rigs baited with the fish I have caught in my net. If you're not exercising then you need to get out and enjoy mother nature where you don't have to be in close proximity of anyone like you do when you go to the store. Work for your food and the exercise becomes a part of the enjoyment of fishing.

There are a lot of arrogant people that think we are wrong by taking advantage of exercise outdoors when, if you actually think about it, they are being selfish even asking the question because of the huge army of people that put themselves at risk while trying to make sure people can survive while hiding in their homes. This virus will be with us for years to come and the fear will, most probably, continue for another 3 to 4 years from now. A vaccine will not be forthcoming for a year or more. Get out, enjoy life and get some exercise.

Hi Bull Shark,
That was well said, being 19 and love fishing and other outdoor activities. I feel like I did something wrong and I'm under house arrest. I'm waiting for them to hunt me down and slap an ankle bracelet on me :(

Hey Z,

Don't worry bout it man. I've been fishing and enjoying the outdoors all my life. The only way for anyone to end my enjoyment of the outdoors will be the day they pry my fishing rod from my cold dead hands. : D

I can understand how some people feel that way. But realize it's a short time frame out of your whole life. I totally believe that if you or anyone else wants to take a chance at getting this and dieing, then they should be able to. The ones that don't want it are Gunna listen and stay home anyway. So what does it hurt if people that don't care about getting it go hang out and get sick. And die... It's like suicide , if you really want to end it all you will. What's the punishment Gunna be??? House arrest? 10 years in prison? You can't go fishing ? Does it matter ??? Dead is dead. No punishment no penalty no fines. Nothing. I can say one thing for myself,if I live thru this virus crap. I'm Gunna go fishing and hunting shopping the list goes on. If you don't do what you want to do you will resent the decisions you made. The second to the worst thing that can happen is a fine. No big deal. I don't think u need to say what the worst thing that can happen is. Live life like you stole it.

So far I don't feel that after a days fishing, just feel more energised. One day I'll wear down or slow down. For now its time for living.

I get sore from working out at a CrossFit gym. Let’s go fishing and have some fun. It’s a good way to practice social distancing. You give people some space when you’re busy fishing, right?

Good Morning Mr. Egghead,
Guess I had that coming to me. You are 100% correct, last thing in this world I want is for any of us to catch it.
I will be upset though if we can't go to Atlantic Beach. But it won't be the end of the world for us.

Thank you very much!

Always,

Z
