Hey Guys, could all y'all put your locations in your profiles please? We would like to know where y'all are from and where y'all might be fishin, thanks. By the way, good luck with your BC. Hope you don't get discouraged your first time out. Keep after it and you'll get the hang of it. Don't try to cast too hard or far at first. Work your way up. Good luck and tight lines.

Hey fishing friends! I'm planning on using my baitcaster for the first time tomorrow morning! I know I will backlash... a lot. I think I have it set up correctly to where the lure hits the floor and stops but I need some tips! Any helpful tips with how to use a baitcaster would be great! 🙂 Thanks

You may want to use a practice plug or a lure without any hooks and give a few tries in the yard before you hit the water.
Also, a side arm or barrel type cast was easier for me than an all out overhand cast.
Good luck, have fun.

Just be sure and keep your elbow down by your side. Only use fore arm to cast with. If you let your elbow come up when you are casting ( what I call chicken winging) you will surly get lots of back lashes.

My best advice is take a second rod with you. One that you have used before as a backup. Dad started teaching me when I was about 13 or 14. Lol, he would buy a couple spool's of cheap mono. And he knew not to put the whole roll on. I spent many days and hours standing on the beach. Tossing a weight into the water. Sometimes I felt he would have preferred a son. Guess that's why I tried to do whatever he did. Cut the grass and trim the bushes. And most of all Surf fishing.

Well Z, I have 2 daughters and the thought of a son was there UNTIL my last daughter was born and then it was all bout Daddy's girls. My youngest even joined the Army before 9 11 happened(which is her birthday) and ended up servin a tour over in Iraq in 2003. There is NO son I could be more proud of than her believe me.
I bet your Dad was thrilled to have YOU as his daughter. Trust me, I know.

Hi Mr. Saw1,
You are right but I didn't really realize it until he started getting sick. One of the last things he said to me is that he loved me and was very proud of me. I can see why you are proud of your girls, they sound amazing.

Reel handle up? Backlash several times daily? Someone tell me why I’m not hearing all of this conversation. 1 angler 2 problems or 2 anglers same problem. Something was lost on the way to my brain. Imagine that!
