I like circle hooks for all natural baits, Live, cut or chunked. For fishing with lures I like other types of hooks

I like long shaft #8 or 10 J hooks for surf whiting . The long shaft allows you to remove the hook. Should you damage a smaller fish , Remember the crabs gotta eat too.
