If you throw a cast net in fresh water can you take snapper turtles ?

Most cast nets I have seen will not handle the snapping turtle in Minnesota, average size in the 12 to 20lb range with some topping 30 lbs.
Haven't seen guys try casting net for smelt, as most of the time they run at night in rivers and streams.

jigginjim is right. I would bet the average size snapping turtle up here would tear the hell out of a casting net.

Put in at dark last night and fished for close to three hours. Had a few nice fish and man the moon was bright, full moon coming. Love night time fishing not near as many boats to mess with.Water temp 62, winds calm, barometric pressure 29.80 falling
