Sounds like you too have discovered the secret to the best egg rolls & flied lice...what town was this restaurant in? Ones I mentioned was San Francisco, up by Detroit & the one that almost got us killed was Jacksonville N.C. The one in Jacksonville the family ate there they ate the same food so it was good & no one got sick.

Cougar is delicious... And many parts of Asia eat cats...

Dogs too... Especially the Koreans and some groups of Chinese.... I've tried it... Kind of gamey... Not my thing...

Technically you don't need to eat fish or chicken or cows... But they taste good...

We used to have plenty of quail a we still have a few turkeys still. The quail are gone now and the cats are now working on the turkey nest. Year before last I heard a Bob White calling. It had been several years since I had heard one, so I went looking for this one. I finally found it. It was a mocking bird in a low bush. It must have learned the song from the birds in the flight pins at the Quail hunting preserve down the road from me..

In Australia there was one single cat that sent the ferry tern into extinction, there. That cat belonged to a light house keeper next to there nesting grounds. People from the towns around here bring dogs and cats out here and throw them out with no regards to the damage they do.

In California and Nevada, Northern Pike are considered invasive predator species. If you catch Northern Pike in either state, you are required to kill it immediately by slitting its gills and bleeding it out. You'll find it in either state's fishing regs.

That's not the case here. There are a lot of things you COULD eat for survival. That doesn't mean they taste good and you should eat them if you don't have to. Personally, I would put CARP and the like in that category. IDK to many people that would eat carp or buffalo if they had other fish they could eat instead.

I was stationed in Mississippi a long time ago, big rain and big flood. Outside my office which was built on higher ground was several fields which included the driving range for the golf course. After the flood all this was under about three feet of water, we literally had fishing poles set up in our office windows catching small bass and some sunfish. Later we noticed large quantities of Carp was also swimming around outside the back of the office. No real interest in catching them but one of the local civilian workers said he could take them down to his church and give them away. People really liked them.

That was all it took as we started exploring different ways to try to catch them. They weren't hitting anything we could bring out of the tackle boxes. One of the troops was trying to use a rake to stab em. One guy sharpened a few sticks to try to spear them etc etc. Over lunch I went home and grabbed the net out of my boat and some waders and went out trying to net them. The overhead swing method with the net was not working but at some point I discovered you could gently ease the net down in front of the carp, reach down and slap it's tail and the carp would swim right into the net. We filled a 55 gallon trash can for the guy to take down to his church and he came to work the next day asking for more. We filled that trash can several more times before the water receded. Ol Mack came in with a cake one day from the ladies at the church to thank us for our efforts, it was awesome. To this day though, I've caught several carp but have yet to try to clean or eat one.

When I was a kid living on the Ohio West Virginia border most people ate wild game and most species were eaten by some one or another. If I shot enough for our needs I would give any extra to some one else. My family ate almost all critters. We didn’t eat cats , dogs or horses because it wasn’t customary for our culture. However, in protein poor countries they would eat them and about every thing else. During my years in the military I ate many things that I would not have thought of eating. Fortunately my early years and military training served me well to just eat what I was served and not ask what it was. When you fight and live with people from other cultures you don’t insult them by not sharing their and your food and drink. Your life depends on them and vice versa. I can honestly say that I never had a bad meal and that includes meals containing what ever was caught or plucked while walking through the bush.
