When I was with the airlines flew into a place I hadn't been for years. Crew bus was taking us to the hotel & it was snowing & the roads were icy. I made the mistake of asking the driver about a certain restaurant. Her reaction was interesting to say the least. About drove us off the road. Curiosity got the best of me so I asked again first apologizing for upsetting her...Her reply was just as interesting. "The health department closed it down thank God!!!" yelling, while glaring at me in the rear view mirror on this icy road. My flight attendant told me to shut up before she kills us...Still curious I asked, make a long story short it was cat skins in the dumpsters & cats in the freezer. We had an American crew riding with us...one of the flight attendants asked if we ever ate in this one place in ??? then informed us they close it down for the same reason. One of my flight attendants came up with another good restaurant that was closed down for the same reason. All were Chinese restaurants. So being the typical wise a$$ I stated at least we all learn something this evening...one of my flight attendants took the bait & sarcastically ask "what"...I said the secret ingredient to the best egg rolls & fried rice...it's a miracle we are still alive the driver became unglued...I got hit by several of the flight attendants...Was not going to say anything to the wife since she would call me at work to bring home egg rolls & fried rice...She was almost asleep when I got home...one look & she asks what's up...Asked her if she ever ate cat...she goes NO...then looks at me asks "Have I"...things got worse told the kids next morning about the story...got a call from the school telling me our daughters are telling everyone that their dad fed them cats...so my friend you'll never know...

I have western friends that think anything that is not salmonoid is not edible. They don't know what they are missing. Northern pike and walleye are tops on my list. Admittedly you need to fillet a northern properly.

My wife and I used to have a favorite Chinese restaurant in a town about an hour away from us, but it was worth the trip once in awhile. My wife was on the phone with a friend who lived there. It seems they closed them down because they were serving cat. They were buying cats from the humane shelters in all the surrounding towns. Seems to me that is a better way to control their population, that and fish bait.
