I have an anchor and a rope. Keeps me on hotspots just fine. With the rope I have about $30 invested.

mushroom anchor with lock system. Anchor under $15 on craig's list and lock/davit system $9.00 at Wall Mart. I have 10lb. front and rear on my 14 and 17 ft boats. It works great and quiet except in high wind. I am in my 70's and broken, but I can still handle the 10 pounders easy. I have to stay in shape as I am still waiting to lift that 10# bass into the boat.

No I'm talking about manual ones. you can get them for around $100. The bracket attaches to the boat and you slide a pole down into the bottom.

Could probably do that with PVC and a couple of brackets for $30.00 or less. Drill a hole for an aluminum spike to hold the pole up, no need for one to keep the pole down. Mike

I have a 14ft boat. Anchor at each end and this ks wind still blows us across the water. Very rare to fish out of the wind here. Calm all week till ya hook up the boat. U know the story. Spot lock looks amazing. Are they all 24v or more? Thanks fellas

I have the minn kota 36 volt ultrex with spot lock. Way too nice a unit for the likes of me. I do love that spot lock feature. It's a 112 lb thrust.

What troll motors you guys like and reccomend for spot locking on say a brush pile and catching crappie. Try not to break the bank.

The only inexpensive spot lock I know of, is also called an anchor.

Go to minnkota website or call them. They have very good service. You can find out what shaft length you need by measuring from the bow down to water level. Assume you want it bow mounted. You can also find lbs of thrust you need based on size and weight of boat including passengers and gear.
