Unfortunately caught a pelican one time. Fortunately it was catch and release but not without a lot of trouble for both parties.

Last weekend my wife and I took out the kayaks to a lake just to get out. Of course I wasn't going to waste an opportunity to fish so I grabbed a couple of rods and away we went. After a day of not catching anything we decided to call it and head for home. I decided to cast " one more time" and ended up pulling out am entire rod and reel combo. It must have been dropped a short time ago because the reel looks brand new ( Lew's spinner) and the rod is in great shape. Come to find out the reel is valued at $60 but the rod is a St Croix avid series 6'6 fast action retailing for $150! That got me thinking, what is the craziest thing you have caught while fishing that wasn't a fish?

Last year my wife and I were salmon fishing in Oregon and I hooked a seal.
Got him up to the boat, but had to break him off. Catch and release only for seals in Oregon...

Maybe yes, maybe no on the fish. You be the judge.
Had a hookup on a nice fish. Fight lasted about 6-7 minutes. Finally got it in the net, a 8lb trout!

The kicker was I had hooked the cord of a stringer that had the fish on it. It had obviously broken free from the shoreline and the fish was swimming on it's own, right into my line

Just on the way home one Sunday afternoon, had bait and poles in the car, I decided to stop and fish awhile in the Platte river in Nebraska by a bridge going north to the interstate 80. Caught several Bass around 3-4 lbs and 4 catfish ranging from 3-8. This was just on a whim to stop and try my luck. Getting ready to stop fishing as the sun was going down. One last cast into the river and something hit the lure. All at once there was a tremendous drag on my pole and reel, didn't get excited and worked what I thought was a turtle as long as it was taking to move what I had hooked. Then finely it was getting close to me and could hardly wait to see what it was. All of a sudden a sleave of a shirt appeared and I thought OhMG, did I find a person in the river, To my relief it was only a flanel shirt and nothing more. Good luck to all and Keep fishing.

I went out in the boat when I got to my spot I realized that I forgot my bait, but in the boat was a fishing magazine they was a pitcher of a worm in it so I cut it out and put it on my hook and tossed it out. It wasn’t out for long and whammy the fight was on and after a long battle I reeled in a pitcher of a bass.

While surf fishing in about three feet of water, catching school stripers off a beach in Ct. , I hooked a bass. While getting it off the hook, I lost a very very special ring. Two years later, while fishing on the same beach, I saw something in the water and it turned out to be my ring.

While casting a snake imitation (wood head and rubber body) I got a hit. It didn’t struggle, it was just hard to pull in. After I got it to the shore of the pond, I saw it was about a 10” snapping turtle. The rascal just would not let go! (He wasn’t hooked, just hung on to the snake body). My line finally broke loose, and I saw the wood snake head with about 1/2” of snake body left over. I remember thinking Well I sure hope he enjoyed his snake, and I sure was glad I didn’t try and take it away from him!!! Tight lines everyone!!

We caught a 4ft gator while fishing in Fl. Port Charlotte. A cast under a tree and wham it ate a plug . Brought him to the boat . My friend asked who is going to take the plug out . Your Plug that should answer that question.
