Usually it's the few who mess it up for the many. Not so much this time. I saw Gavin talking about it on TV, he was not happy to do that, but whatcha gonna do?

I guess that the state beaches are still open.
Conflicting news stories.
San Diego beaches are closed through with the fines in place.
Guess that I jumped the gun on the state beaches.

The Delta is sure pretty. Always enjoyed going there. Did the fish giggle at you today Spirit?

That's not the Delta. That's the Sutter Bypass, at least that's what I've always called it. It runs from the Sutter Buttes just west of Yuba City down to somewhere on the Feather River before it hooks up with the Sacramento. 30 miles or so? All kinds of critters in there amongst the rice fields and walnut groves. In the summer you don't even need to take bait out there, just reach down in the rice field mud and scoop up a handful of mudbugs (crawdads).

Saw, I thought for sure I would catch a catfish or a bass out there. Saw a ol Russian dude that had caught him a pretty nice carp, probably around a 10 pounder. I didn't have any bread balls. Girls had a good time, we fished for about 4 hours or so, then it started to rain pretty hard so we got out of there. I taught one of em how to tie a uni and how to cut bait and put it on the hook. She did real well. The other one is a little princess and she turned her nose up at the whole situation. I guess it was an ordeal for her. But she was pretty stoic about it. Didn't whine. We had fun. Well, two of us did.

I went to the oriental market over by Trader Joe's on Harding and I bought a whole mackerel. I've always had good luck with it. Cut strips of meat off, hook it thru the skin. The levee road was open. Where I was fishing, you take Sacramento Avenue off 99 about a 1/2 mile or so from the Feather River bridge, just north of Nicholas. You go back in there and you have the levee road to your right, up kinda high, and then there is a lower road that runs right along the bank. I've been up that road quite a ways but I'm not sure how far it actually goes. There's lots of spots along there to park and fish. There are two canals out there, maybe 1/4 mile apart. I've always had better luck on the western most one right over where the bridge goes across it. Would've fished there, but somebody had already taken my spot.

Thanks. I was just curious. I've never used mackerel for catfish bait. But, if it has always worked for you in the past,, then why not. I'm scratching my head wondering why you didn't reel in some catfish along there.

The levee road is closed at the Sutter Wildlife Refuge boundary.

Hey Guys,Did they lock down the fish and tackle shops by any of you. Here in some parts of PA.they won't let you in the stores.I was curious and called around to see about getting my license for this year and was told there not letting people in the store.A friend of mine went to his local fish and tackle shops and he said he was met by the owner at the door.He said the owner was holding a can of Lysol & a rag in his hand talking to him through the door saying nobody is allowed in.This whole thing is scary shit.It reminds me of the 1912 Spanish flu.My wife and I are keeping it safe and staying in till this shit blows over, hopefully soon so I can get my license and go fishing.

Damn you're old if you can recall the 1912 Spanish flu. The only sporting goods store here where I live is Big 5 and it's closed. I get my license on-line, as OZ suggested you do. What kind of bait are you looking for that you can't get at the local market? I went fishing today with my granddaughters and we had a real nice time. The corona virus can bite me. I'm living my life.

so far,,, tackle businesses here are still open. Or, at least the 3 big ones near me are. However, they only allow a certain number of people in the store at any given time.
