Actually hacksaw no I haven't installed an anchor trolley yet. I have an anchor with a rope that I attach to one of the side handles but in the future I will get the trolley system. I also plan on getting things like electronics, trolling motor and better electronics. But until then I just have to use what I have and save for my extremely long wish list of things I want.

Aaron, I hope you haven’t taken offense to my asking about a anchor trolley. I apologize if I did. I just get excited when someone buys a yak. Also, I don’t know about where you live, but here in Texas if you have a trolling motor on your yak, you have to get registration numbers. I think it’s stupid, but something you might want to check into. I hear ya on the wish list, but when you’re out fishing in them it’s sure nice to have all the stuff. Every time I got something else my wife gave me a fit about it. What’s the brand of your yak? It looks like a great fishing yak. You have the same fish finder I have and I love mine. It works great for me. How is your paddle secured? I’ve had a time trying to put the right thing on to hold it.

Hack I didn't take any kind of offence to your comment about the anchor trolley. Actually I welcome the advise on what to get for my kayak. It's my first one so I am learning what stuff I should get, the good brands to purchase and the advise on how to use them. My kayak is a Field and Stream Shadow Caster 123. I wanted to purchase a decent kayak for my first one untill I get it down really well and spend the money on a bonified or hobbies or something with that kind of price. Here in Ohio we also have to have boating numbers for any watercraft with a motor so I have already done that step but I also think it's kinda stupid. I would understand if I had a boat with a 350 Evinrude on it but a kayak with a 30 pound thrust trolling motor doesn't exactly scream speed demon, but it is what it is I guess. Right now for my paddle I am just using the side paddle strap but I will be upgrading that quickly. Please feel free to offer advice on stuff I should consider for my kayak. I always welcome ideas and suggestions on what good purchases are, where to mount stuff ECT.

Blue moon is a good beer but if you really want to treat your self to something special you should try Kentucky Bourbon Ale. Here in Ohio we have microbreweries all over the place and some of them are ok. I personally am not much of a wheat beer or IPA guy but Kentucky Bourbon Ale is a fantastic beer to drink!

Aaron, thank you. I fell out of mine the first three times I went out it. Mines only 28” wide and I had to reach back to get my rods and when I did I leaned too far, so I put some rod holders in front of me. The other problem was I had to reach back to reach the rudder ropes so I put extensions on them with a “T” handle, and they are next to my leg now. I haven’t fallen out since. I was beginning to think I’d made a terrible mistake, then I decided to make it user friendly. I would suggest using para cord for the anchor trolley. It doesn’t stretch as much when it’s wet. Everything I added to mine was expensive, at least to me it was so I had to add things when I could. That trolley really helps when you get some wind and you can adjust it to keep you in the same position. Something else you can get are marker buoys for when you’re on fish. They come with a long string line and a weight. Anyway anything I can help you with let me know.

Thanks for the tip, I will try it if I can find it here in IL. I grew up in Akron Ohio by the way. Started my fishing as a kid on the Ohio Canal and the Tuskaraurus River. And small lakes. I really want a kyack. But it seems to me once U buy all the extras, U could have a good used bass boat. I to Love bass fishing. Tight Lines Man

You are doing just find AM53. Having your user profile like you have it makes it easy for folks to know where you are talking about and helps others if they want info on that area.

Hitting the quote reply when referring to a person is a big plus. That way you don't have to scroll back numerous pages sometimes to find the topic. The reply button is just to make a statement to no particular person.

And if we pull your chain, dish it back. As flyguy says: we care we share.

Am53 you are right in the expense dept that once the extras are purchased you could have a bass boat. Only thing there comes to mind is a motor, gas, trailer, registration yearly, maintenance, and always having to use a ramp some where to launch. Add these cost and inconveniences up and you will surpass that bass boat price.

I have to agree with Plumbob on the expense stuff. But another thing to think about is that a kayak can get into places where a bass boat can't go and it is very quiet. Quite is a great thing to not spook the fish. Sure you can rack up a receipt for a kayak that would give a decent used bass boat a run for it's money with extras like motors, fish Finders, special rod holders and paddles ECT ECT. But from my experience from fishing on both a kayak and boat ( very little in a kayak), a kayak dose have a lot more advantages that a boat just can't do. But again I don't have a lot of experience (yet) on a kayak so don't take my full word on it.
