After some brutally hot days when the Bass have stayed deep, they often feed heavily at night. When we were kids a friend and I went fishing all night and did very well. And Bass over a campfire tastes better than in a kitchen!
Bout anything over a campfire taste better than in the kitchen. Just sayin.
They hit better at night during the warmer (hotter) months but you can catch they all year long at night. Fish the same places you fish during the day. Had great luck with top water (buzz baits, ploppers, Pop R's, etc) but you can catch them on a worm, rattle trap, crank bait. Your eyes also adapt to the dark so we didn't even use lights except to tie lures or move to another area. Go it is a lot of fun.
summer night with a black spinnerbait with Colorado blade
no moon, blackest night I ever fished. large farm pond, black hula popper, casting towards where I thought the pads were from previous visits. SPLASH personal best, had no scale, 21 inches long, 22 inches girth,, conneticut
I would suggest the jitterbug and Livingston Lures Walking Boss II. Use at dawn, dusk, and at night...the bass and others hit it like a bomb! ENJOY, I do.
