I have found the brown with brown hackle rooster tail 1/8 th oz or smaller to be the most deadly from northern Michigan to the great northwest. Work it at different depths through holes and riffs, or more fun to work it around rocks and cover in faster water. Have fun and good luck! Fishunter
Indeed i vote for the kastmaster but also most of the others mentioned. If it’s not a a catch and release area, small trout worms are a killer. Trout will swallow live bait hard and you usually will gut hook them. That is not an issue if are intending to and legally keep the fish. But most of my trout fishing streams are either C&R or two trout limit. So I need to fish with lures . Meps with single hooks or kastmasters where a replace the treble hook with a single are my go tos. It does make the hook up more challenging but when I need to release, better for the fish,
If corn is legal where you are there's a bait called fire corn that comes in different colors. Works ok. Regular old shoepeg corn works pretty good too.

Corn is legal in California. We put garlic corn on the tip of the hook on our hootchies when trolling for kokanee.
Sleddog here I agree with the bobber like I said yesterday they sell them at basspro or try your local bait shop put your fly on a leader and cast out steam and you will get your limit . Happy fishing 🐠
Corn works good on the little red river in Arkansas
You can try floating line ,with tip-it 2 lb line ,on your spinning reel and use anything that fly fishing persons use.
try (Joe's floyd 1/4 once) silver and gold colored pincers and what ever color bodies draw your attention. I use natural COLORS and a veriaty of red and greens mix it up ,good luck
sorry for not prove reading what my big fat fingers type. that was supposed to of read ( Joe's flys) for trout.
I was at Bennett Springs opening day Sunday and there is natural bait area below the whistle bridge
Spinners such as Mepps and othwr rooster tail designs are effective in getting reaction strikes. Also Crappie Tubes work well for stocked trout.
