I believe the best rain gear is Helly Hansen or Grundens. I worked on Commecrial fishing boats and the oil rigs and they have lasted me the best. I take them on every fishing trip I go on.. They are extremely tough.

The last pair of grundens I bought was at Sportsman Warehouse.
I think total cost was around $140 for the bib type bottoms and the Jacket.
They carry both the HH and Grundens.

Most of the time I just use my waders for my legs and the jacket on top.

I get a size larger than I need so I have more room.

Good luck and good fishing.

I use a set of German military gore tex bibs and jacket that I get from Sportsmans Guide. They are under 60 bucks and as tough as nails. I use the bibs for my brush pants when pheasant huntin too. Very good quality, would recommend.

I'm looking for a rain suit (jacket and pants) for spring/summer boat fishing. Last year I had a Frog Tog style set, Bass Pro branded. They weren't expensive, but they were a couple years old and the rain soaked right through the papery material. Even though the fishing was ok, I was ready to give up after a few hours of miserable cold. Looking for a set that isn't too hot, I can layer underneath depending on weather.

I'd like to keep it around $200 for the set if possible, but what I'm finding it looks like it jumps from $60 to $200+ for jacket only. Anything in between you'd recommend? (I'm in the USA if that makes a difference)

Thanks.

I use a Army surplus Gore Tex jacket from Sportsmans guide. Keeps me dry and warm if a liner is used.

I use Helly Hanson from Sierra trading company, great on budget. Simms is pricy but great quality, use fly fishing.

RandoAtR..

Stop at a local industrial supply.. One that supplies the local Gas and Electrical utilities in your area. You'll find that they have good quality rain gear suited to your area for guys that work in it every day. You may be surprised that rain suits are better priced than buying from an outdoors company.

I have a set ( bibs and parka ) Cabela's Guide Wear. They are pricey but great. I bought them on sale, I believe I paid $200 for the set several years ago. The Seafox

Storm defender by carhartt. High quality not over priced. Not sure where you're from, might be a bit warm for warmer climates. Great for midwest fishing.
