Finally I bought a boat tried to buy an outboard motor for the deck boat couldn't get anyone who would start one up for me always as is Finally found 2. 200hp mercury and a 200hp Yamaha messaged the guy with the mercury for time and address no reply one with Yamaha said he put on a boat and and now buy both but not available till middle of May mercury instead of answering me he posted it sold. Ad popped up last week for a 161/2ft 76 model Kingfisher bass boat with 115hp Mercury trolling motor and 2 fish finders for $2500. Everything works. Only 30 miles away, so went to look at it and everything worked. He turned the switch and motor started immediately. We settled on $2200. My dilemma do I keep it as is or do I strip everything off the bass boat and put it on the deck boat. I wanted the big boat so I could take family boating and still fish but the bass boat will be a lot easier to fish from. Suggestions or advice wanted.

I remember right it is a good looking deck boat dbed. If the motor isn't to big for it. What kind of motor was on the deck boat, it would be nice if it was a Mercury motor maybe you wouldn't have to change out the controls. Before going through all of that, I would definitely take a ride in the boat just to be sure everything does work right 👍

I'm thinking the opposite Jimmy. Deck boats are usually heavier than bass boats. I think a 115 would be underpowered, especially with a bunch of people onboard. Then you overwork the 115, and blow it up.
I'd use the bass boat as is, and save up some money to repair/rebuild/replace the motor on the deck boat.

I don't think it would be to under powered Fred a buddy has a 25ft pontoon with 115 Johnson on it. Depending on what it weighs I guess. I believe it would be fine

I forgot what it looked like. I was thinking of something like a Hurricane Deck boat. They're all fiberglass, and usually run 150-200 hp. The 115 will probably work on that one.

Thanks OZ.

Congratulations, I would encourage you to put it on the deck boat so you have room for the family. And if the deck boat is in good shape, feel lucky that you found one. I have had a very hard time finding one. Not ready to purchase now, but would like to see what’s out there now, send us some pics. i’ve been looking for an aluminum deck boat.

The deck boat is all fiberglass it's a triton so it is pretty heavy with 10 people it would be a load for the 115 hp Susan and I decided today that we would leave the bass boat as is.

I'll stick with my original response. Use the Bassboat as is. Put aside some money to repair/rebuild/replace the 150.
If you put the minimum size motor on the deck boat, and load it up you probably won't get it up on plane, and you'll be overworking the motor. Also, it's not a direct swap of identical motors so it's not as easy. This is just my humble opinion buddy, but I want to see you have some fun.

Deck boat has Evinrude controls. Evinrude dealer said not to buy Evinrude because they went out of business and it is hard to find parts for them now. If we keep it I'll go ahead and look for a Mercury or Yamaha with controls. I have the idea that the kids might take an interest and offer to help buy a motor so they could cruise the lakes here.

I found a 16ft fiberglass deck boat but friends who spend a lot of time on the lake said it wasn't big enough for cruising the lake. I found the one I have in Arkansas I would stay out of Arkansas you really need to find one in with a title in Missouri. Mine might be for sale if I can't afford to buy a motor for it
