I, too, enjoyed this video. Thanks for providing my day a smile.
It isn't called "catching" for a reason.

Regarding the video from Gordon:
That ties right straight into the advice I shared earlier here about baiting your own hook…if she won’t touch a worm, she’s not worth joining you as a first mate. I mean, if she can’t handle that, what does that say about the potential of the two of you being able to happily partake in any of the other soft, wiggly & wet aspects of life, huh?

That's good advise. I fished with my grandfather out of Monterey since I was 3. He taught me how to navigate without a compass or any electronics. I navigate by the swells. There's a little guess work and timing, but I learned to get myself out and back, regardless how thick the fog was. It's good to know. You never know when your electronics can fail. I have another note of advise for the new people on the water. Never stick your hands in a Lingcod's mouth. My grandfather taught me that at a very young age. I didn't listen, like a dummy. My lingcod swallowed the hook. I stuck my hand inside to get the hook out. The Lingcod shut his mouth, and I jerked out my hand. It was shredded. With the salt water contacting it. it was on fire! Listen to your elders!

Dang Steve. That had to hurt. Lesson learned. Welcome aboard and appreciate your input to this post. Stay with us.
Check online for places that are catching fish, then just look for places you never fished before.

Do you surf fish much in seaside? I have heard that they now get stripers there in the surf. I used to head for the beach on my bike nearly everyday after school. Graduated seaside high in 67. Main fishing target was surf perch, with an occasional leopard shark. I wish I had known more about lure and jig fishing back then.
There’s a reason it’s called “fishing,” not “catching fish.”
No body told me that it was like sex, once you start you can never stop.
It’s an art. Just learning what you can do with a rod can go so far. There’s always more to learn. And, not least, there’s luck.

Are you making reference to Possum's post?

That the time I spent learning to fish with my grandfather and father was time I would never get back. The value of that time can't be duplicated.
Absolutely! The times I have been with friends, and the kids have been priceless.
