The “wipers” are common here in Lawrence at Clinton Lake.

I have a hybrid striper pic from PA. The yellow and hybrid look very much alike, if that lake does not have any hybrids listed as being in the lake, it would most likely be a yellow bass as Fred and others mentioned.

I thought I had a pic of my friend with a wiper, but I think it’s a striper instead. Sorry.

I think your right. I believe it's a yellow. Saguro doesn't list hybrid but there are a few yellow bass in the lake...mystery solved.

We call them bar fish here. I’ve caught 2 that was close to that size but many more smaller.
Aka yellow

Looks more like a white bass than a hybrid to me as well

Hmmm...now I think it might be a yellow bass. It does have some yellow in it and also the broken stripe.

Thanks for all the ideas.

Nice job! That looks like a yellow bass, Saguaro is known for those. How was the water quality? Saguaro has been going through a bad algae bloom a few weeks ago.

Nice fish, good job. Looks like that Striper has a few eggs and we need to get those things out of the lake. They sure are fun to catch though.
Show eat up boys.

AZGFD put out an article on 3/15 confirming the bloom on Sag but also indicated it was happening at Canyon and Apache. I saw the dead shad but have not seen it effect larger fish populations. I've seen less dead shad each week and fished through it. I also saw the green slick occasionally. The bite has been good. The article mentions a flush they will do in April that should help.

I'm using 15 to 25 ft diving cranks once I see some bigger fish around structure in that same range. They strike once I'm bouncing the bill on the structure or shortly after the structure. Points, rocks, ledges. I'm casting way beyond the structure and retrieving into the side and top of the structure. I just have 2 d sonar so not sure on the depth of the strike.
