I broke my baitcaster rod below the reel. What’s the best way to fix the rod?
The rod is a Lews Speed Stick custom black. I broke the rod first time I went fishing with it. What would be the best way to fix this? Thank you in Advance.

You could possibly repair this by applying some flexible resin to the damaged area then whipping with some strong thread or braided line and then putting an epoxy or resin over the whipping.
What # test are you using? I’ve done that before and it stemmed from using too strong of a test and pulling too hard on the rod.

I’m using 40lb braid. I slipped and somehow landed on the end of the rod.

It’s embarrassing but I slipped when fishing and somehow I landed on the end and this was the result.

You will never repair it. The graphite will continue to split and get worse. Call it a valuable lesson and buy a new rod

Super glue and baking soda?

Throw it away and replace unfortunately.

I broke my Lews tp1 at the very bottom. Snapped it clean off when I flipped my kayak and it was in the kayak holder. It’s was pretty clean and not quite as buckeled as yours. Took it to my local outdoors shop and the rod shop cut it off clean and glued a blank piece in and a generic rubber cap. Then put a resin coating or some type of heat shrink sleeve. Cost me 10 dollars. Haven’t tested it yet.

Smear the affected area with epoxy made for synthetics and before it hardens wrap it tightly with black rescue tape, then let it set...should give you a few more years of use, and wont look too shabby either...

That's an easy fix.cut it off clean with a Dremel cut off wheel push a foam ear plug 3" into each end to keep epoxy from running away from broken area get a dowell that fits in the small end about 6" long.fill both ends with some glue or epoxy insert the dowell. The glue will squeeze out. Wipe it off.let rod stand on butt end over night.lightly sand off dried glue . And you can brush on clear epoxy on outside not to thick.uf there's bubbles hold a lighter about 5 inches below rod for a few seconds bubbles will pop.if you don't have a rod dryer or wrapper mix your epoxy a little heavier with hardener let dry and go fishing. Mudhole has epoxy that sets up pretty fast you can order 6oz syringes loaded and ready to mix for $2.99. get two for 6 bucks..
It will never fish like it was designed, it will give you more problems than it’s worth. Get rid of it and chalk it up to a learning experience.... Just another of life’s lessons...

If there is a rod crafter near you take it to him/her. They will either fix it or ditch it. It shouldn't cost you a thing for their advice.
Being that it's broke between the butt sections on a split grip rod it can be fixed easily without affecting the business end if the rod.get on You Tube and ask how to fix a broken rod.lots of different ways. If your to busy and cant spend 20 minutes "trying"to fix it then throw it away. Not only is it simple it's fun. Fixing and making fishing poles is easy. Just watch a few videos man.its worth it.
