It can be fixed if you want to put in the work all you need to do is remove the fore grip and the rear grip and use a Dermal tool to cut off the blank clean above all the splittings of the bank. After cutting the blank just rough it up a bit and fit and glue a carbon sleeve over the rod blank not into the blank. By fitting the sleeve over the rod blank it will help eliminate so of the extra flexing that you my get in the rear of the rod. Replace the grip with Cork or EVA and you my extend the length a bit if you like. To make things a bit easier you my want to glue and fit your Cork or EVA over your extension first just measure and plan well first.

Several worthwhile suggestions, and I do think while the rod can possibly be repaired, I would also go ahead and replace it with a new stick. Then I would try to cut it with a clean cut and insert a metal rod just the exact size as the interior of the broken piece, then epoxy the entire splintered pieces back in place. It will probably never be the exact same but will be an adequate back up. RJS

first remove Butt cap. Get an old broken rod (Free or for next to nothing) that the wall is a little thicker (because the diameter is smaller than rod you are fixing so need extra strength) and has a section that will make a close fit when pushed up inside and will extend 2" under the grips bo ends. Preferably glass. Coat the "plug" and push up in place, making sure that epoxy covers both surfaces 100 %.

If it is new, they would probably replace it with a new one. I have had these things happen and the rod company has stood behind there products no matter how it happened.

There is no really good way of repairing this. You will never get back the tensile strength that it had from the factory. If it was purchased recently from a reputible dealer like Bass Pro you can take it back and get a refund or exchange for a new rod of same one. If you have access to a computer contact the company and let them know of the problem and where it is. DO NOT be explicite on how it happened. Use a policy that the Navy uses, "submarine dumb"! It just broke first time I used it!! A reputible company will tell you what to do to get another rod. If that doesn't work, toss it and get a new rod, and have a nice trip and see you next fall!!
