Catching one redefines the concept of a "fly" fisherman!

They're a real pretty bird. During the spring when they are paired up to mate, they will swim along beside each other and then both jump up and dance across the water. It kinda looks like they are tiptoeing with each other across the surface of the water. Have seen them many times do that while I was fishin Clear Lake Cal. So neat lookin.

I caught a "golden" bluegill when I was just a boy (8 years old?), in the Smoke Hole Canyon of the South Branch of Potomac River in WV. It was getting dark, bats were flying, and I begged my Dad for one more cast, and lo and behold I caught it this unique creature. Like the golden rainbow trout that was developed nearby, this fish was gold all over. We put it in a bucket with some water, took it home, and placed it in an aluminum tub with fresh water. A conservation officer looked at it the next day. We then released it in a nearby farm pond where I am told it was seen for a number of years afterwards.
I recently came across the photos of me with it. I will have to digitize and share.

was about 14 at the time night fishing in the dark with only moon light above neshaminy falls ,Oakford , Pa. went for cats but was only catching eels and what a mess in the dark , after making that one last cast to get a catfish I finally hooked a real fighter but when I got him to the bank it started running all through the higher grass along the bank back and forth i finally took up all the slack pined it down , the muskrat just sat looking at me after I cut the line , we were both exhausted , finally it slipped back into the water and I went home . my father started to call me a liar until I reminded him about the time he didn't believe i had a squirrel in my school bag , yea he opened it and it ran up and down the walls till i caught it again , he never doubted me again !

MY stories:
1.Caught a fish that had my lure in it's mouth from a previous line break.
2.Caught a turtle and watched as it ground it's face until my hook was out and then it walked bak into the lake
2. caught a largemouth bass and looked into it's mouth and noticed something strange. I pulled at a fish tail in the back of the bass' mouth and out came the a partially digested perch
3.Many times I have caught bass at night using my Walking bossII or a jitterbug, but the fish breaks free with my lure. I endure the next couple hours listening to the fish jump from the water trying to jerk free of the lures
4. Put a worm on my line, drop it next to a crawfish and then use the crawfish for bait
5.

The more I think about this thread, things come back to me. ( a lifetime of fishing). Caught a large bluefish on the beach and it puked up a 12” northern kingfish very much alive. Released them both. Was walking the bank of a reservoir bass fishing and caught a good one. Had a distinctive spot on its tail. On my way back, caught the same fish again and decided to keep him. ( he really wanted to go home with me!). In his stomach was a 4 shiners 3 crayfish and a baby squirrel. What a glutton!

Had a buddy that I fished with for 25-30 years and that was how I learned how to take single or multiple hooks out anywhere.he would always manage to get a hook in him somehow one time he hook a pickerel and it flipped on him steering the hook into his leg while the fish was up the line flopping about what a time unhooking him fish flopping him hollering to get the hook out and not kill the fish fun and games wouldn’t trade it for anything

Years ago in Oklahoma a family was water skiing and their young daughter was up. They pulled her through a patch of water they said looked dark and she went down. She did not make it to the hospital because of several hundred moccasin bites. Yes they do bite under water.

Fishing on lake allatoona in ga. Me and my buddy saw a bunch of splashing in the middle of the lake so we eased the boat over and my buddy got the net and came up with a 5lb bass with a 3lb bass in its mouth only about 6 inches sticking out of its mouth we couldn't believe it but man what a sight .

I did the same couple months back out on our lake. Was about a 2 1/2 lb. bass with a crappie bout as big as my hand stuck in his mouth. Had to use pliers to pull the crappie out and they both swam away to live another day.
