Any unusual catches, or stories, while fishing?
My 9 yo son has caught a few unusual catches (in the Boston, MA, USA area): a frog, a turtle, and a sea gull.
What unusual catches/stories do you have,
And pics if you have them. :)

A couple years ago we were on the Susquehanna river and two otters came swimming up to the boat. They came right up to the side a stared at us. It was the first and only ones I’ve ever seen there.

I caught a teen last summer. The poor bird took my spearing and I had to reel him in dragging 100 yards through the water and remove the hook from its beak.

Caught a straight up dead, rotting fish, hooked in the mouth one time.
I don't know how it happened but it was disgusting.

Was guiding/fishing for yellow eye out of keku straight in Frederick Sound AK. My client hooked into what seemed like a nice yellow eye. These fish are notorious for putting up a fight for the first 10 seconds, then give up. Thats exactly what this fish did. After 2 min of reeling, it turned out to be a 121lb halibut. Never saw that coming. . But still a great fish!

Never heard of a halibut giving up after 2 min. fight. Lucky for him it did or he could have been there a while. We've had 15 to 20 pounders fight for 10 to 15 min., Can't imagine how long a 121 lb. halibut would take. I guess if you were lucky, 2 min.

I think he meant a Tern.
Many years ago on Pelican Lake in Orr Minnesota a beaver got into our fish holding cage that was in the lake and killed and ate the majority of our evenings catch. The only way we knew is that he got trapped in the cage and couldn't get out. Boy! he sure was glad when we let him out. I let one of the other fishing friends open it and let him because I was "CHICKEN" because he was really pissed off.

A Cottonmouth, and anyone who says they won't bite underwater just ain't right, they will
I caught a "golden" bluegill when I was just a boy (8 years old?), in the Smoke Hole Canyon of the South Branch of Potomac River in WV. It was getting dark, bats were flying, and I begged my Dad for one more cast, and lo and behold I caught it this unique creature. Like the golden rainbow trout that was developed nearby, this fish was gold all over. We put it in a bucket with some water, took it home, and placed it in an aluminum tub with fresh water. A conservation officer looked at it the next day. We then released it in a nearby farm pond where I am told it was seen for a number of years afterwards.
I recently came across the photos of me with it. I will have to digitize and share.

Yeah Ivey, I know that to be true. Way back when I was a kid, growin up in Texas ,there was a group of people havin a picnic down at the lake. Don't remember which lake now to long ago. Anyway, a bunch of the kids wanted to go swimming so they all ran down to the water and one little boy jumped in first and started yellin and screamin for the others not to jump in because there was a bunch of barbed wire in the water. When he got out he was covered in snake bites from the cottonmouths . Turned out there was a nest of them there. He never made it to the hospital. We all started bein more careful where we went swimmin after that.
