Been looking at used pontoon boats on marketplace. Found an ad for a 2003 22 ft. Bentley pontoon with 90hp 4 stroke outboard and trailer for 1200$. First thought was fake ad because it was posted from several different cities. Sent the guy a message saying fake ad, he message me back to email his aunt because it is her boat. I emailed her and she Immediately wrote back saying her husband had just passed away and she was selling it cheap to get rid of it soon. Ebay is handling the sale she is sending my name etc and they will contact me. Next thing will be shipping costs.

Based on what I’ve read here, I wouldn’t even bother with it. If it seems too good to be true it probably is.
Yup…..I replied to several ads that were “too good to be true”…..all the same story……wife selling just to get rid of because it reminded her of her deceased husband.

Alright. I'm sorry you weren't able to get a good deal like this. But I'm sure glad that you got the info and decided against this one.

The good news is that it made you see that a boat is within reach for you. Keep us posted and post a pic when you get a boat.
If it's in good condition and good motor, then you have a real bargain. Cheap expense to have the motor looked at professionally of unexpected problems. Motor parts are hard to come buy for older motors as many parts manufactures went out of business during covid. There are a few recyclers showing up in the country. I was able to get an Electrical Harness for 5 dollars on a 1999 4 stroke Evenrude that had never given me any troubles. A replacement motor would have been about $10,000.
In the event anyone needs parts:

Great find, hope it all works out keep us posted.🎣
Make the trip personally, with a truck that can pull it and a toolbox to fix lights and tires. Boots on the ground. Take cash, plus a buddy with a CC. Tell them you expect a receipt. If it’s a scam, you’ll never actually get an address. If it’s a robbery, your bud’s gonna have to throw down on them. 😬

I guess I didn’t realize the implications of this scenario, sad that in our world today we have to deal with stuff like this. Hopefully it’s a legit deal it does sound a little too good to be true. Good luck and be safe.
I seen many of these scams before .
It’s 1,000 percent a scam. Back out of it. Don’t give them a cent. I had the same type of scam happen to me. Someone selling a boat, or anything, with multiple locations, will always be a scam. My incident was for a 17’ Bass Tracker. Looked like it was off the showroom floor. A woman was selling it for her mom because her husband passed away and she couldn’t bare seeing it anymore because of the memory’s. The locations were Murfreesborough, Nashville, Cookville, and many other places around there, plus in other states. If the price is too good to be true, then it is. If it swims like a fish, smells like a fish, looks like a fish, then it’s a fish. Run Forrest, Run!!! Tracked down the scammers address to a place in Oklahoma, a small lot, old couple. Called the cops and they said that they get a lot of calls about that place being an address for scammers. Old couple was completely innocent, wasn’t aware of someone using their address.
