Look up cowboy boots and California.
Looks like I was told wrong it's against the law to wear cowboy boots unless you have at least two cows😂 now I got it right, thanks 👍

Hello stagers,
Here's a trivia question about Western fashion during the Wild West Era.
Just how many gallons of water would a Ten Gallon Hat hold?
I personally have never seen anyone wearing one of these hats.
If you, or someone you know, routinely wears one. Please let us know.

I don't know, but Dennis has an idea

You got me looking at that every day. Enjoy it. Thanks.
For all you Northerners, I do have an Open Road Stetson which had recently been renamed the LBJ model for one or our past presidents.
Yes, I do have a 10-gallon Stetson! (first paragraph) I never dared to try and check how much water it held. The idea was to water your horse and the rider would dip water in his hat and allow his horse to have a drink. ot But I believe the other writers are pretty much on target. A 10 gallon Stetson does not hold 10 gallons, and I do not know where there term originated.
Now that we are on the subject of 10-gallon hats, the next obvious question is what does 2x, 3x or 10x Stetsons mean? It had to do with the quality of beaver pelts that go into manufacture and I know even a 3X beaver is out of my price range.
Well, there's no rule in Texas about wearing, or not wearing a 10-gallon hat if you don't have cattle. There is an old saying about how many cows a man has by how many pant legs he stuffs inside his boots.
My dad would kid me if I was in a hurry and did not get all my pant legs on the outside of my boots. I don't remember the exact rule, but it went something like this, one side of one boot, meant maybe 5 head, both sides of one boot, then maybe 10 head. If you had all in one side and half in the other boot it might mean 50 head, and both pant legs in your boots you were the owner of the King Ranch and had more cattle than you could count!
If there's someone in Texas, or elsewhere that knows this rule, please help me out! Just Sayin...RJS

You’re welcome. Another to check into is “Brain Candy”. Different topics every day but Sunday’s is always “In the News” looking at things that happened during the week.

Thanks Jer. In a nut at learning.
Hello stagers,
To Gordon and Jer, it's perfectly fine to answer the trivia questions if you have seen it posted elsewhere and remember the answer, without having to look it up.
You would have been just in your responses.
So how much water does a 10 gallon hat actually hold?
Dennis the Mennis was right his uncle got jiped.
A 10 gallon hat will actually hold about 3/4 of a gallon.
So if you know or guessed 3/4 gallon you are correct.
I tip my hat to you.

This is exactly who I thought of regarding a 10 gallon hat. The only other person I’ve seen a picture of wearing a 10 gallon hat was Bob Hope.

Dang Saw. You’ve done it now. According to some who claim to know almost everything here
You can’t legally own or buy a gun now for breaking that law. 🔫🇺🇸🇺🇸
