Hello stagers,
Here's a trivia question about Western fashion during the Wild West Era.
Just how many gallons of water would a Ten Gallon Hat hold?
I personally have never seen anyone wearing one of these hats.
If you, or someone you know, routinely wears one. Please let us know.

I've seen them, don't own one, but they would hold less than 1 gallon. Depending on your hat size it might come closer to 1 gallon though. LOL.
At least the ones I've seen. Just sayin.

Got this one on Daily Trivia. I'll hold my answer. Hoss Cartwright wore one.

That's why I said dependin on hat SIZE. With a head that big it might have held a gallon.
But with a smaller head it would be less. Maybe 3/4 or so. Just my guess though.

I saw this a while ago but don't remember the answer. I think the "10 Gallon" name comes from an error in translation, not an estimate of volume.

If a man is wearing it —11 gallons
A woman—9 gallons
Because that’s how much water is in a typical man’s and woman’s body respectively.
