It might be 5° outside with a wind chill of -17° but having a walleye supper with potato wedges helps a person forget it's winter. Yum, yum! 😋

Looks delicious, from my home state of Michigan, Go Blue.

What, no hush puppies? Looks good and ya can't beat roasted potato wedges. Only 9 degrees here this morning. Didn't want to know the wind chill.lol. Mountains are getting lots of snow. We got a skif on Wednesday and maybe an inch Thursday. Both days were fluffy enough I just swept the ramps and walks and the driveway around the car where no sun reaches. Back complained both days but needed to be done. Neighbor made a couple of passes with his snowblower on the front walk and the sun took care of the rest. Stay safe if not warm. Xcel Energy warned that wholesale price of natural gas is up.due to this storm system so to reduce your thermostat to save money on the surcharges they pass along when their cost exceeds their budget. At least the sun is helping out these cold clear mornings. How do I pass on my cost if it exceeds my budget?

Natural gas prices going up because of a snow storm makes about as much sense as fishing for walleye in your garage. They use any excuse to increase prices. Telling you to lower your thermostat takes lot of nerve. Do you have any wood burning devices to help with the indoor warmth? A friend of mine, here in Ohio, installed a very nice looking (but small) free standing wood burner. He cut his gas bill about 25% and the house temperature was 3-4 degrees warmer than without it. He cuts his own wood and worked on a couple trees last summer. He ended up with 3 cords of split wood. Good luck out there and stay warm.

They are blaming supply and demand just like commodities prices but with a locked-in clientele. Another example of trickle-down economics. It goes down to the low man who has to pay for it.

My first taste was at a very exquisite restaurant in downtown Minneapolis. I was so excited to finally enjoy my first walleye after hearing for years about how good it is. When it was served I dug right in and bla. It was very over cooked and dry as a dessert. Mine is oven baked, but once and awhile I will fry it.
Find and enjoy more of it Bob.

Don’t know if you have fish fry’s in Nebraska like we have in Minnesota and Wisconsin, like Fridays during Lent.
Gotta find one that’s serving walleye verses Cod. Yummy! As I just can’t catch the darn things, I look forward to Lent😁😁

Thanks for all the compliments on the half fillet of walleye. Somewhere earlier I mentioned that this was oven baked, or as some would call it oven fried. Thomas, I'm not Catholic so Friday fish fry for Lent doesn't do anything for me, so we have fish for the main dish as often as we can. And when it comes to walleye, I prefer baking it over frying. It's to easy to over cook it when frying. The fryer is used for crappie, large mouth bass and white bass.
If you ice fish, be careful and save some fish for us who have to wait for open water. And if you are in the neighborhood stop by and we'll share a meal with you.

I definitely don’t want to be misunderstood, I’m not catholic either, it’s just a thing in our neck of the woods. The VFW, the Lions Club, the Kiwanis Club, etc. they all have the fish fry on Fridays during lent. Probably started as a Catholic thing but not so much anymore, it has been commercialized just like Christmas

A great fish fry is a great fish fry. Doesn’t matter what denomination you are. You’re not being misunderstood. Don’t worry about it. I appreciated your comments.

I had heard for years that walleye was delicious, but had never had a chance to try it. Finally, when my wife and I took a trip to Minnesota for 7 days, we ate walleye for dinner 5 nights out of 7. And I should add that wherever we had it, the people in Minnesota knew how to cook it!

I too don't get caught up with religious denominations. When it comes to fish frying I grew up in the deep south where there were what was called Fish Camps all along the rivers. These were actually just restaurants that specialized in fish dinning, using mostly locally caught fish with some ocean fish shipped in as fresh as possible. I don't know if these type restaurants are around anymore or not. I also remember how fantastic their
hush-puppies were.

Nothing like southern fresh fish cooking. Those hush puppies still make my mouth water! Great food. 😄
